Media reports in France this morning suggest that Marseille will make one more bid for Payet this Thursday before turning their attentions elsewhere.
Marseille’s latest bid of £22m on Monday is nowhere near West Ham’s valuation of Payet of £35-£40m.
The report in France says Marseille will likely make one more bid for Payet and their deadline for signing the French international is this coming Thursday.
West Ham are not willing to sell Payet for less than £30m and it is not unclear whether Marseille will stretch to the Hammers absolute minimum.
West Ham have no pressure to sell and have sent Payet to train with the Under 23’s at Chadwell Heath.
Other reports suggests offers from China have been rejected by his agent as the player is only interested in a return to France. His agent courted reporters on Monday to suggest he would be taking a thirty per cent pay cut to join Marseille.
Paris Saint-Germain claim they are not interested after spending over £35m on the German 23 year old Julian Draxler.
