Marseilles edging up – Irons edging down

payetkfcWEST HAM are ready to offload Dimitri Payet this month following a £25million bid from Marseille according to The Sun

The 29-year-old has not played in the Hammers last two league games after trying to force a move back to the French club this month.

There is nothing in the story to back up what on the face of it represents an audacious claim.

But with Slaven Bilic and the players pushing hard for the midfielder to be got rid of as soon as possible the pressure is undoubtedly on the board.

ClaretandHugh was told this morning that negotiations are going on with a source declaring: “They have come up a bit – we have come down a bit from the £35 million.   Normal negotiating in fact.

“The circumstances are problematical because of the player making a one club demand but we are determined not to move below the £30 million benchmark. That has always been the bottom line.”

  1. If the PSG connection is true,
Almost every top French player would dream of playing for PSG. It could be a dream come true for us too.

  2. if the club let him go for £25m they are mugs & will lose credibility. Hopefully they will grow a pair & keep to their word. £30m minimum or let him rot until the summer

  3. ‘We won’r be selling Payet on the cheap!’ (Quoted, more than once, from the club before the weekend) …….£30m is very cheap.

  4. Surely with the Daves’ business savvie, they will not buy into poor old Marseille’s sob story that they cannot afford to go any higher.

This is not a contrived show like the transactions in ‘Wheeler Dealer’ where we say is he going to a good home? Ok I’ll give him away for the low price.
We must stick by our guns and the US billionaire can stump up the odd £5m to settle.
Agree we would lose cred if we let him go for cheap and why should we? we’ve done nothing but look after him and should reap the financial benefit not Marseille!
Just keep fining him for the late appearances for training and refusing to play. He’ll come around to convicing them to pay the price.
Not Payet but PayUP or rot until the summer

  5. 30 million i would take it like a shot for a one season wonder sulker..

  6. Bang on Long Chap. Enough is enough.

  7. Anyone else remember how the intellectuals told us we’d be doomed if the French **** didn’t play for us? What about Slav must go and we need the Slug back because with him your guaranteed survival? Just proves that for all their bluster and continual talking about the same bloody thing they actually know nothing after all 🙂

  8. IF that isn’t caving in to Payet, his agent and Marseille, I don’t know what is.
I can imagine the club will just be happyy to get it all over with, but settling for a fee of a league £25-30 million basically rewards Payet’s actions, it validates his sulking, refusing to play, dragging his teammates down and forms a valuable blueprint for West Ham players “How to get a prefered move to my favourite club on the cheap despite being on a long term contract“.
West Ham will come across as pushovers. Not good.

As for the intellectuals on WHTID you seem to focus on the comments of a selected view. There is no common ground on that site in terms of various topics, be that Payet, the stadium, the manager or the owners. In fact you will find people disagreeing with each other all the time, same as on here…

    • HH don’t get so defensive about WHTID 🙂 Some of these intellectuals have been on here banging there drum about Slav getting the push as well mate 🙂

  9. I dont know.We sign a player who few had heard of outside France for 10 mill he has one season (exceptiomal i admit) & now he is a 40/50 mill player.Great if someone pays it but all they are getting is a 30 year old with a sh#t attitude who has done nothing in his career apart from the one with us.He could probably only be bothered last season to ensure he got in the French squad for the euros.
Where does gw mention whtid Hamburg. You are not being paranoid are you??? lol

  10. Blimey Hamburg when we were doing badly there was shed loads of men coming on here with their theories that Bilic had lost the dressing room,he was another Martinez,he had been found out as a p1ss poor manager. It happend on most forums i think.
Still that dont solve the yellow belly toad situation lol

    • Yeah, I got scolded for that from one of my mates over there. I take the liberty though to disagree with even my mates at times and they very much do the same, the way it should be really…

      • Wouldnt know i only read the article.I normally take a peek at your montag thoughts from the weekend.I dont bother with whats below.

  11. Is H here causing trouble again, doesnt surprise me he is the biggest sh*t stirrer on the internet 😂😂😂
Tell you what on this seasons form Fat Frog aint worth £10m let alone £40m 😁

  12. Trouble is that his value is now at a high point (it was higher before his histrionics) and will only reduce once this transfer window is closed (wherever he is in February).
Its now mid season and he clearly isn’t training sufficiently; he appears to be carrying a good few excess pounds which he will struggle to quickly shed and gain match fitness from and, no matter how cynically I may view him, this entire episode must be weighing heavily on him psychologically.
There are some players who would move on quickly, and positively (in a playing sense) from a situation like this – but I can’t see him having that strong a will.
I hope that the Board do sell him during this window – for the best deal possible. It would, in my view, be a failure of management to still have him on our books in February as he won’t be worth £20m come summer – and the squad and supporters would have to put up with this soap opera as a probable distraction rather than being to build on the recent positive performances.
