Moyes in talks with Psycho

nintchdbpict000002468897Speaking to reporters at the London Stadium today, David Moyes said: “I’m in talks with a couple of people, Stuart Pearce is one of them. Hopefully I will have something settled by the end of the week.”

On Monday the former Hammer nicknamed Psycho told Talksport “I’ve had no contact with West Ham if that’s what you mean, but if I had contact with them I would certainly go and talk to them.”

Pearce has not been in the management since leaving his job as Nottingham Forest boss over two years ago. He first became a coach under Kevin Keegan after his playing days ended later becoming a caretaker manager in 2005 and then permanent manager until 2007.

In February 2007, before his sacking by Manchester City, Pearce had been appointed manager of the England national under-21 team, a role which became full-time until 2013. He also went on to manage the Great Britain Olympic football team for their matches at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Pearce was appointed as the manager of Nottingham Forest in 2014 but was later sacked in 2015 after a poor start to the season.

Pearce joined West Ham as a player in 1999 after falling out of favour with Newcastle manager Ruud Gullit. He made his debut on 7 August 1999 in a 1–0 home win against Spurs. His first goal came on 21 October 2000 in a 2–1 home defeat to Arsenal. He made 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and in 2001 he was named Hammer of the Year.

  1. Based upon the headline, I was expecting to read an article detailing Moyes first meeting with lady spud?
Seemingly Pearce now needs to decide between Betway and Betfred? What are the odds, hey?

  2. It feels to me as though Pearce is just being brought in to appease the fans although I may be wrong… better to get a hungry young coach or two with a modern approach that will be able to take us forward.

  3. I only hope he is allowed to coach the defence to instill some bite into their performance & not given something irrevalent ( in charge of crossing the ball like Dicks ) otherwise it will be a token placement. I like the noises coming from Moyes in regard to training & effort he deserves his chance & I think on the whole the Fan base will give him time to sort how he wants the team to perform if he only gets their work rate up it will 100% better then it will be up to him to create his team to perform how he wants whether the fans will appreciate his style remains to be seen but being a supporter for 58 years I am a optimist

  4. Claret – Whoever had the coaching role to ensure “we crossed the ball like Dicks” deserves a knighthood fella because we’ve done exactly that all season! High ones to Chic, miles in front of Carroll, straight out of play etc……….
