Moyes’ late decision on duo’s return

David Moyes will make a final decision on Andy Carrol’s return to match action on Monday just ahead of the game against Stoke City.

Carroll has been sidelined with a  hairline fracture in his foot since December but is now ready to return assuming he suffers no setbacks on the training ground between now and Monday.

And we understand the same applied to Manu Lanzini who suffered a muscle strain whilst on international duty but is now believed ready to return.

However, sources have stressed that  both will face tests before what is being billed as the most crucial game of the season.

Should Lanzini return he looks certain to replace Joao Mario although the International loanee may start and be replaced later whilst Carroll, given his injury history, is likely to make a cameo appearance.

Aaron Cresswell’s knock against Chelsea was described as “minor” and the defender is expected to be available for the match.
