No Europa stream but CandH on case!

|

europa-league-1418338658West Ham’s army of fans will be without a stream to watch tomorrow’s Europa Cup clash live.

The game will not be screened on the official website while tickets remain available for the Europa League game.

Although tickets for tomorrow’s game against Romanian team Astra FC are selling well, it is unlikely to completely sell-out so like the game against Birkirkara at the Boleyn Ground two weeks ago. So no TV or streaming coverage will be provided.

A senior source told Claret and Hugh that it would have been possible to sell the TV rights in the region of £35,000 as Birkirkara arranged with Premier Sports last Thursday.

However, the club made a business decision that it could damage ticket sales although they declared: “These are marginal decisions.”

Our source added:  ‘Most people were surprised that the Andorra match sold out, so we decided to offer it to armchair supporters free. Some 26,000 watched the game on the internet.

“Malta wasn’t sold out, hence we didn’t offer it free. These are all marginal decisions, had we known Andorra would have sold out we’d have sold it to TV.’

However, ClaretandHugh will be carrying the planned BBC London commentary on BBC London 94.9 FM along with our popular match text highlights.

FFS am sick of this crap. If its marginal then bloody well show it. The people who want to go to a live game will go anyway if its on TV or not. However the people who cannot make it to the game but would desperately like to see their beloved team in action can go swivel. Who makes these idiotic judgement calls. Dave and Dave bang on about family values blah blah blah but I sometimes think they are nothing more than a couple of corporate whores. If I could get the Norwich game which was a bloody friendly, why the hell cant I get a European match. You’d think we were in it every year judging by their irreverence. Joke.

Oh well……the joys of following WHU from Zimbabwe.

If Dave and Dave are trying to increase our world wide fan base, then in what world does it make sense to limit the number of viewers of a European game to the 35k capacity of UP. Stupidity of the highest degree.

Absolute madness… Are we trying to “grow our brand” here or not. It just beggars belief that they would take this opportunity away from west ham fans around the globe in the hope of selling a few more tickets

It’s a bit like other sports moving off of BBC & ITV and selling out to sky… Boxers used to be as famous as footballers & rock stars now most people have not watched a fight for years and couldn’t name a single boxer.

Put your product out there as often as possible so as many people as possible can see it and you will reap the long term benefit- this is short term penny pinching and a slap in the face for west ham fans everywhere

I usually like the David’s but this has really angered me

Spot on lads, all for the sake of a few thousand extra £10 or £20 tickets tomorrow.Shortsighted is exactly what it is.The muppets want to stick LONDON on our badge to give us a global appeal but they cant even show one match to people who cant watch it if they aint at the stadium. Its laughable with all this ‘marginal’ bs!

  • whambam says:

Tell you what they could do, the same as the boxing, pay per view, maybe £2.50 a game

Greetings every1 from exotic country of Belarus! I’ve been reading this site for quite a long time still that’s my first post here. Excuse my English, i know its far from perfect, but please explain me somebody WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? How European Cup game involving such a big club as WHU can not be shown on TV? What West Ham fans who live/work abroad are supposed to do? That’s a shame to say the least. It’s never easy to be a Hammers fan, is it?
