West Ham have sold 2,618 from the 3,000 tickets allocated to them for the Premier League clash with Manchester United at 4.30pm on Sunday 27th November.
The Hammers need to reach the 2,800 figure to hit the sale or return target, or will end up paying for the tickets that are unsold under that amount. £30 adult tickets are now on general sale for this match at https://www.eticketing.co.uk/whufc/
A return ticket on Virgin Trains to Manchester return would add £82.40 with an official coach from the London Stadium costing £35 for season ticket holders and members.
The EFL cup game against the Red Devils comes just three days later and has only sold a disappointing 3,217 tickets from an allocation of 7,900.
Our ticket office source told us: “Unlike the FA Cup or Premier League games these tickets are all on sale or return. West Ham made a bold statement to Manchester United by taking so many, relocating their own Season Ticket holders and allowing our fans on this occasion to buy four each but as yet we still haven’t even reached 3,500 which is really disappointing considering the requests from fans in the past to take 5000/7000+ at quarter final stages”
Both matches are evening games which are set to screened LIVE on TV and come on the night before school/work days.
The midweek EFL Cup does not have a Virgin train option to get home. The last Virgin train leaves Manchester at 9.15pm and with kick off scheduled for 8pm it would mean supporters could only watch the first half before rushing to get the train home. I find the tone of this article and the ticket office source odd, or maybe not, perhaps it’s usual now to slag off our fans.
There are 12 days until the league match and it looks like we’ll sell out with just a few hundred tickets left, the cup game has more than two weeks left to go, and we could easily reach 5-6000 by then which is not bad for a midweek game away up north when the team have been so poor this season.
But instead of acknowledge how many thousands of fans we have going, let’s use this as another opportunity for the ticket office to say ‘See, we can’t sell out allocations, and it costs the club a few thousand pounds’, when on several other occasions the club has chosen painfully low allocations, humiliating our fans. Seems to be becoming the norm…
