Olympic Stadium ready for action

|

15thSeptember

This internal picture take yesterday of the Olympic Stadium shows an almost finished stadium ready for the first Rugby World Cup game in seven days time. Seats have been fully pushed forward to same distance they will be used in football mode and the gap between the lower and upper seating bowls in the East stand has been bridged with demountable 2,200 seats.  I think you will agree that the Stadium is looking much better after the modifications since the Athletics event was show in July.

After the Rugby World and the Race of champions  event, work will start again to brand the stadium with West Ham colours and symbols. The artificial grass will be extended right up the front row of the lower seating hiding the running track which will be replaced with a new blue one.

The current Desso pitch will be ripped up and replaced with a higher specification Desso Grassmaster pitch and West Ham banners and lighting will be used to make it feel like our home.  Many of the Black seats will be replaced with Claret and Blue new seats that will spell out the words West Ham and create a large Hammers symbol. A new LED wrap will be added around the outside of the Stadium subject to planning permission and funding.

Horrendous… those seats down the flanks look very flat indeed!

Yeah, I thought that, but I also hope its the camera using a wide angled lens to get the whole stadium in, may be distorting it a bit. No I don’t really believe that either !

Always tough to tell with goofy camera lens pics.
