Only 23 games from Europa glory!

europa-league-1418338658West Ham will have played 23 Europa League matches between July 2 and May 18 if they lift the trophy.

A total of 48 teams are involved in the groups stage from September. Sixteen of those are automatic qualifiers, including Liverpool and Tottenham, and 10 teams will join the competition from the Champions League after failing to get through that competition’s qualifiers.

The remaining 22 will come from the Europa’s qualifying process – which starts on July 2.

Southampton enter at the third-round qualifying stage, the first legs of which are to played on July 30.

First qualifying round July 2 and 9 (starts with 102 clubs, including West Ham).

Second qualifying round July 16 and 23 (the 51 first-round winners, plus 15 more clubs).

Third qualifying round July 30 and August 6 (the 33 second-round winners, plus 25 more clubs, including Southampton).

Playoffs August 20 and 27 (the 29 third-round winners, plus 15 Champions League playoff losers).

Group stages Six matches between September 17 and December 10.

Round of 32 February 18 and 25.

Round of 16 March 10 and 17.

Quarter-finals April 7 and 14.

Semi-finals April 18 and May 5.

Final May 18, at St Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland.
