Pelle calling all the shots as excitement builds and builds

There’s only one person who is calling all the shots at West Ham United and right at this moment that man is not David Sullivan or indeed Davd Gold.

From the moment Manuel Pellegrini was appointed to the job he has got, and is still getting, everything he wants and it’s why everyone of us are like excited schoolchildren waiting for the first game of the season.

We learned the moment ‘Pelle’ was put in place that the one player he wanted above all others was Felipe Anderson – the trouble was so did Lazio, and soon the world at large, so the price went up and up.

But fair play to the board, they lived with that, stuck to it and backed their new management team with dough which nearly doubled our previous record signing. They had given him his Number One requirement and more was to follow.

When I found myself earlier today being called to from across the road in a Devon seaside town by people I vaguely knew shouting “What the hell is going on at your football club” then you start to understand that something truly remarkable is occurring.

The manager has brought in every player he wanted two or three weeks even before deadline day and we will barely recognise the players on the pitch when we get to the first game of the season.

Now on top of all that, the boss has made it clear that Rush Green simply isn’t up to nick and a few more millions are to be spent on it immediately.

These are extraordinary events at this old club of ours but to be expected when you bring in a man of such stature and fair play to the board for doing so.

They knew what they had to do, have PERSONALLY  guaranteed a new £50 million overdraft and put their hands in pocket and heads on the financial chopping block.

But of all the signings – Anderson, Wilshere, Diop Yarmolenko etc – one remains the most important of all and his name was Pellegrini at £10 million a year.

By doing so it’s fair – without getting too carried away – to believe that the next level which was used to hammer the club over the head last season – may in fact suddenly be achievable.

Very exciting times and thanks to all involved as a wave of optimism and excitement engulfs us all.

  1. Having supported our beloved club for nearly 50 years now, i can’t recall a season previous where i have been this enthused with optimism for the times ahead. The manager is going to be the catalyst of all of what is about to unravel and congratulations must be given to the board for eventually succumbing to the vision we all once believed we could achieve if we were going to ‘the next level’.
Having a) obtained the right manager & b) signed the right type of players needed to make progress to that level, i am severely hoping that it can all materialise on the pitch in the fashion of pure football. That’s what we all want to see. Our team playing well, linking up, passing, moving, scoring and working for each other for the crest on their chest.
    Here’s to our future. COYI’s

  2. These top managers don’t agree to go to a club without the promise of a big transfer budget. That’s why they are successful. Managers like Moyes and allardyce before him probably pride themselves on keeping clubs up amongst it with minimal outlay. That’s why they take on clubs looking like they are going to be relegated. Pellegrini would never take a risk with his career like that. Yes he went to a club like Malaga but he had record Arab funding that year I believe. I don’t believe he would have come to us if he didn’t believe our owners were rich enough (or desperate enough after last season) to back him big time in the market with new players.

  3. Please excuse me if I don’t share the blind enthusiasm for Pellegrini & his signings. A supporter for 60 years, I will believe it when I see it. I haven’t quite seen “this” all before – & there are , obviously, good reasons to be optimistic – but I will start to believe all the hype when I see the performances on the pitch. I just hope that it all pays off !
