Rat paid off by the Hammers

Rat                  Exclusive by Hugh Southon

Razvan Rat has been paid off and has left West Ham United.

The co owners made their move once the deal was sealed to bring Pablo Armera into the club from Napoli on a loan deal until the end of the season.

And it follows exclusive news on ClaretandHugh yesterday that the Romanian was likely to leave given his deal stipulated he needed to play in 60 per cent of the club’s games to get a contract offer.

He finished up playing just 20 of the required 27 games and his immediate departure indicated that George McCartney is set to take over the left back role from injured Joey O’Brien who dislocated a shoulder at Chelsea.

A top level source revealed: “We made the decision quickly this afternoon. We needed to make room in the pay structure and with no departures in the window it was a sensible move.”

Rat was on a £30k a week deal – or £1.5 million a year – and now leaves as an unattached player.
