West Ham paid a club record transfer fee £22m plus a further £4.4m of add-ons for 21-year old Centre back Issa Diop this week. Up to this week, Angelo Ogbonna was the record signing in the centre back role costing £9.6m from Juventus in 2015. The second highest transfer was Jose Fonte from Southampton for £8m in 2017 closely followed by Matty Upson from Birmingham for £7.5m in 2007.

Thomas Repka joined West Ham in Glenn Roeder’s tenure as manager, for a then club record fee of £5.5 million in September 2001. Academy youth products are included James Tomkins, Reece Oxford, Reece Burke, Declan Rice and Josh Pask.

Havard Nordveit was a free transfer later sold for a reported £7m to Hoffenheim. James Tomkins was sold for £10m to Crystal Palace in 2016.
