Reid: No Arsenal bid but “fantastic Irons offer”

winston-reid-west-ham-united_3009997West Ham United have confirmed this afternoon that there has been no offer for Winston Reid.

As stories circulated that Arsene Wenger was lining up a £6 million bid for the player, ClaretandHugh was told exclusively: “We have had no offer.”

It was reported that Arsene Wenger had decided on a £6 million bid for the New Zealander should Thomas Vermaelen move on this summer.

Reid is believed to have been a long term target for the north Londoners but a highly placed Boleyn Ground source said: “We have made Winston a fantastic offer.

“We want him to stay but if he doesn’t take it we will let his contract run down.

“The Kiwi has a year left on his current contract and his advisers were reported to be looking for £75k a week.

New talks have now been held and there’s now more optimism among Hammers negotiators a deal can be done despite Wenger apparently watching developments.
