Report: Carvalho still wants Irons move

A new report has emerged this morning that William Carvalho still wants to move to West Ham.

It follows ClaretandHugh’s report of yesterday (Tues) that the Irons are refusing to rule out the possibility of a new approach to Sporting Lisbon for the midfielder in January.

Mirror reporter Darren Lewis – who followed the on/off  move and has good contacts with the Irons – says that Carvalho remains keen despite the breakdown in relations between the Hammers and Sporting Lisbon.

And he adds that Slaven Bilic still wants the 25-year-old  to form a midfield partnership with Cheikhou Kouyate which were it to happen would have required both sides to bury the hatchet.

With David Sullivan threatening to sue Sporting’s director of communications and Lisbon chief Bruno de Carvalho threatening to report the Irons to FIFA over an alleged illegal approach it would take a lot of pride swallowing for the deal to be resurrected.

But money always talks and with the player frustrated and wanting the move the Irons are refusing to accept that a deal is dead.

  1. Well, it means they would have to meet his buyout clause price doesn’t it? And we all know the board will not do that so no, sorry WC but you will not be joining the hammers mate.

  2. Hope we get him… Obiang on form is decent tho, wouldn’t be surprised if its Carvalho and Obiang in CM. Kouyate for me has stagnated slightly…top player, but not kicked onto the next level yet

  3. We dont have to meet his release clause at all.If Silva going to Leicester for about £25 million with a release clause of £45 million proves anything it is that they are meaningless really and only a deterrent to put teams off.

  4. Kouyate should be played at CB he is much more disciplined there it will also leave a space to fit Lanzini with Obiang Holding

  5. If it does come off i can see it causing problems in the middle. But, i should add, only good problems. Carvalho, Obiang, Kouyate, Noble, all fighting for the 2 spots in the middle with Lanzini in front of them.
I see also that some have said Kouyate should be used as a Defender but Kouyate has already said himself last season that he didn’t like playing there, he did it because Slav asked him to fill in until they got defenders fit again.
I’ve seen a link to Schurller as a good possible for Jan as well. Can play both wings but would again make good competition for Antonio & Arnautovich

  6. Isn’t it possible to get deals stitched up before the window, with the deal being activated once the window opens? Think I have seen some of these. Mind you, still a lot of sorting out to be done before that.

  7. I remember Kouyate saying him playing RB was a problem. Slav is welcome to the headache that being a manager requires 😁

  8. No way it will happen after the insults between the clubs… but even more so do u really think Sullivan will pay the full buy out clause up front after that pathetic 23 million over 3 year offer ..no ####### way ..move on
