Report: Hammers enquiry for Argentinian midfielder

West Ham have made an enquiry for Sevilla attacking midfielder Joaquin Correa according to reports.

The 23-year-old played just 21 minutes in the Spanish club’s final four matches of the campaign under interim Coach Joaquin Caparros, who is now the Director of Football.

Estadio Deportivo cite a report in Tuttomercatoweb which confirms the player’s change of agent and that he has spoken to the new West Ham Director of Football Mario Husillos.

Los Rojiblancos paid €13m to sign the Argentine from Sampdoria in the summer of 2016 and his market value has soared in the two years since, with any deal expected to be worth double that amount. Correa netted seven goals and provided seven assists last season at Sevilla.

The Argentinian represented River Plate, Renato Cesarini and Estudiantes as a youth. He made his first-team debut with Estudiantes. In 2014, Correa joined Serie A club Sampdoria for a fee of US$ 10 million signing a four-and-a-half-year contract before joining Sevilla in 2016.

  1. This lad is one serious player – every time I have seen him I have been so impressed. He would be an incredible signing in my opinion. This lad is a West Ham player – would be a serious signing of intent.
