Report: Pellegrini has quit Hebei China Fortune

Reports have emerged in China that Manuel Pellegrini has left as manager of Hebei China Fortune.

And it now appears to be an odds on bet that the former Manchester City boss will be installed as the Hammers manager by next week – probably on Wednesday.

An announcement from the Chinese club says he is will no longer be the team manager from midnight tonight and that they express their gratitude to the 64 year old for his time in the position.

It first appeared in the form of a tweet from West Ham season ticket holder @MarkHarrison23 who also claims the news has also been broken by the China Super League on their website.

We reported yesterday  that Pellegrini was leaving China for London and a planned interview with David Sullivan in his Essex home on Monday or Tuesday.

Now it seems that he is the only show in town for the Irons after links for several days with him and Rafa Benitez.

  1. I’ve got a feeling that Pellegreni is playing us too.
If Conte steps down from CFC, he will go there.

  2. Although it might be an interesting challenge for Pellegrini to come to West Ham. He has already managed the likes of Real Madrid and Citeh. This would be something different.

  3. A lot of money has gone on Pellegrini at the bookies the last few days. As those “in the know” would know. Its obvious now isn’t it. I notice he had some great players went over there to hebai China fortune obviously for the money, including ex West Ham player Javier Wonder if he’s still any good. Maybe Pellegrini can bring him with him.

  4. Recently, many people ( including on Hammers-chat ) were calling for Moyes to be fired, believing ( in their deluded way ) he would be replaced by a young up and coming new Pochettino with a funny foreign name. They really believed that the latest messiah was going to beg to become the new manager of West Ham. I wonder if they have sobered up yet lol.
At this moment, we are faced with the fact that only one name is on the horizon; someone who is nearly as old as me ! ! Someone who has just spent the last couple of years in the biggest football retirement home on the planet.
Unless a miracle happens very soon, it looks like we will get him as the new manager of our club. The man who inherited massively talented squads at both Real Madrid and Man City, will now have just a few weeks to find the players necessary to avoid another flirtation with relegation. I hope he has kept up to date with the real world of football, while he has been playing Chinese scrabble, so that he knows what players would be best for us.
Obviously the story of the Director of Football role is about to be resolved. The board said yes, while Moyes said no. Then the board backed down and confused everyone. Moyes who wanted total control over transfers was at that moment marked out for extinction. Now it is clear that Pellegrini cannot have any input to transfer matters and a DOF is now necessary. Of course the DOF will be answerable to David Sullivan and fired if he doesn’t tow the line.
The real test is, can a retired virtual Chinaman manage a fight against relegation? Will the moaners get their entertainment as the club slides. Perhaps their will be the ultimate miracle. I certainly hope so.

  5. By the way, as I said before, I will still support whoever gets the job.
