Operators gave permission to ‘Palace Ultras’ to drum

ultra1Operators London Stadium 185 gave the self styled Crystal Palace ‘Ultras’ prior permission to bring in a drum despite prohibiting all musical instruments which could cause a nuisance.

Under the security and safety section of the stadium’s official website it says: “Unlicensed musical instruments: trumpets, drums and other devices capable of causing a disturbance or nuisance”

The drum could be heard from the away end throughout the game with many West Ham supporters asking how they could have smuggled it in when bottle tops and umbrellas are banned from entry.

There was a disturbance in the away end in the London Stadium in the first half and it was assumed that the response team was sent in to stop the drumming but the operators insist the incident was unrelated as the drum presence was authorised.

LS185 told ClaretandHugh “Permission (for the drum) was granted by prior arrangement and it wasn’t confiscated. The response team deployment was unrelated”

  1. I also wondered how they got a drum in at first it was annoying but once the game took off in the second I did not notice it, perhaps being 3 down put a dampener on the drummer.
The only downer for me was the long trek to Stratford what with having to walk right round the stadium from entrance C & the crowd control it took me 30 minutes & I missed the train. About time they sorted out the “so called gas works ” & opened the other bridge

    • I think that walk may be set to stay. I spoke to some policemen about it and they said that its for public safety. They cannot police the park because its too open so they have restricted the number of ways out.

  2. Crystal Palace Ultras…where do they play in the San Siro…thats got to be one of the most stupid names for a group of fans going from England.

  3. There is also a ban on any flag or banner greater than one sq metre in size. It looked like the steward went in to remove the ‘ultras’ banner. Drums should not be allowed.

  4. annoying more than anything. if one set of fans are given permission to have a drum inside the stadium then how can any other group be refused? we shall see in the coming weeks..

  5. I’m bringing my Alpine Horn next home game!

  6. Ha TRB good one.
I couldn’t go yesterday through work so i had the pleasure of the WHTID Match chat to keep me company.I would have preferred the drum & alpine horn in either lughole.

  7. Couldn’t hear it in the Bobby! : )

  8. Being an Irons fan in South London, I hate Palace with a passion; yes even more than Millwall.

Palace Ultras – I mean really? Name stolen from the Lazio hooligans. Everything abut Palace is stolen from other teams. They have no identity. They stole their kit from Barcelona, their away kit usually looks like Brazil, that eagle that flys before the game; Benfica have being doing that for years. They stole their ‘red and blue army’ song from Bayern Munich and their ground is the biggest dump in the top two divisions.

Their fans gob off and then run a mile in the opposite direction. And they live in Croydon. That’s enough about Palace, but if a West Ham fan ever was allowed to bring a drum in, he should be banned. And as for music after a goal. Never!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Crystal Palace Ultras !!!? gnarf gnarf gnarf…

  10. Just an afterthought. Did they steal the Hammerettes as well?
