Sullivan admits to an unbalanced squad

|

small_320_David_SullivanDavid Sullivan has admitted the Hammers had an “unbalanced squad” ahead of transfer deadline day which he believes has now been corrected.

Speaking on the official site the co-chairman declared: “We are delighted that we have been able to bring in 13 players who will hopefully make our squad even stronger.

Before the deadline day we had an unbalanced squad and we needed to change a few things around. The decision has now been made that Michail Antonio will play as a winger after originally starting the season as a right back.

As a result we had to move out a winger, getting a £1.5m loan fee plus wages covered on Enner Valencia, and have brought in a full back to compete with and help Sam Byram.

This has been a big few days for the Club following the signing of Simone Zaza from Juventus over the weekend.
Zaza could become one of the major stars and we saw his qualities when he came came on and scored at London Stadium a few weeks ago.

He’s fit and ready to play. We expect him to lead the line against Watford. Our Club record signing Andre Ayew is also a great signing.

Agree has been a great window where the mix of players young as well as experienced have provided real depth to our squad, hopefully that will transpire in us playing even better than last year, with so many new players it can always go one way or the other as they settle in and also all of the teams have strengthened so we may see some of them really improved, I hope this is another wide open premier league, none of the top teams are unbeatable despite playing poorly we could have had results against both City and Chelsea for me that shows when we kick into gear and get these players settled in we will be in the mix, I also don’t think Utd are much better than last year and Tottenham and the Gooners have not improved as much as we have.
