Sunderland gazump Irons on Jenks loan

carl-jenkinson-562633West Ham are in danger of losing out on another Carl Jenkinson loan spell after Sunderland offered Arsenal   £500,000 more than £2 million loanfee wanted by the Gunners.

Reports in the morning press that the Hammers had won the race for the England under 21 after agreeing a £1.5 million loan deal are well wide of the mark.

The club’s negotiators believed they were making progress but have learned in the last few hours that the Black Cats have come back with a financial package including the loan fee that has put them in pole position.

That has put us on the back foot in our bid to bring the right back into the club fora second year but all is not lost at this stage.

ClaretandHugh was told exclusively by a major source: ” Suddenly there are all sorts of problems on the deal as Sunderland have offered £2.5 million and wages.

“That’s £500,000 more than the Arsenal asking price but we certainly haven’t given up at this point in the proceedings.”

  1. If they want to pay over the odds for a loan let them get on with it and we’ll move on

  2. Yep lets just fart about & miss out on him.We should have been in the box seat for getting Jenks. But i bet we p*ss about & he will be off up the motorway!

  3. I wonder how much say the player has…

  4. If they offer double he won’t move up north and that will posh off Wenger,
He will come to us and not on loan but not for a little while
I agree move on he is a good player but not that good,

  5. So they are paying £2.5 million a year loan fee (which is about £50k a week + wages, if he only on £10k a week, then that works out £60k a week for an under 21 player that you have to hand back at the end of the season, wow, what a good bit of business, you have to hand it to Sunlan, deal of the century

  6. I would stump 2.5m for a year loan. Its absolute peanuts in this day & age & we know what we are getting.Dont see the issues. We could pay 5m,which doesnt get alot these days for an absoulute mug from africa, south america or some other far flung country. We got lucky with Cressie.we will have extra tv dough next year. For now 2.5m is fine for him for another season imo 😉

  7. Corluka over Jenks, used to love Jenks until all this started up, why doesn’t the bloke just get some bottle and tell ******** that he’s not going anywhere unless it’s us

    • He aint going to tell Arsenal to do one is he.He wants to stay there in the long run im sure.He is a Gooner. It is Arsenal playing hard ball not Jenks. He aint said he wants to leave Arsenal but they want to get the best loan deal they can for him.We would do exactly the same, try to milk it for every penny. Not a problem as far as im concerned. Its business 😉

  8. I see both Stoke and Saints have kind of gazumped us by nailing down a striker apiece. Hope we are not going to see another transfer window where every other team. manage to get their targets with little trouble whilst ours go through weeks of agony followed by disappointment.
As for the Jenks deal, I am not overly bothered with this. For me signing him for another loan period doesn’t do much more than provide a band aid for this position when we shouldbe looking for a permanent signing with enough years left to grow with the club

    • “doesn’t do much more than provide a band aid for this position when we shouldbe looking for a permanent signing with enough years left to grow with the club”

      Well put.

      • & if we can sort out a loan with a buy option at the end of this season that would be fine with Jenkinson i think 😉

  9. I am willing to bet the negotiations include the eventual selling price of Jenks, which is where the Club should be well ahead of Sunderland…

  10. Calm down everybody the window hasn’t even officially opened yet. It’ll all come good with the right additions in the end. Having said that we now need to look elsewhere for a RB,leave Ar$enal to it and have no more dealings with them they’re greedy ba$tards who can f@ck off back to South London.

  11. Bloody hell, none of us even know the true details of what going on.Only fuxking ‘Sources’ or Media reports.I will just wait till he has gone somewhere else or signed for us before leaving skids in my nappie! 😉

  12. You’re right Baz I just have a deep dislike of the gooners lol

  13. How many fukc right backs are there in the world ?
People are going on as though he is fukcing Messi,if he wants to be a gooner so be it but he is going to wait until Wenger retires because he does not rate him or he would pick him,
The word FREE and Johnson rings a bell ,3 years contract with what we are going to pay Song he would be a bargain and get a youngster like Cresswell to groom over those years,

  14. Johnson is an overrated injury prone oldie who would want high wages.Wouldnt touch him with a barge pole.If we bring him back it will be a joke 😉

  15. Oh well we will stick with O,Brien then 99,

  16. Hahaha,i have to agree with 99 on this one.Johnson is a has been injury prone 30+.If we aint going to get Jenks which i hope we do then Johnson would be one of my last options.Plenty of other right-backs out there.Doesnt mean if we dont get Jenks we will only have JOB.Calm down bubs, lol 😀
