Toxic atmosphere returns to London Stadium

stad1The omens were there from the very start last night at the London Stadium, the Claret and Hugh crowd-funded flag was missing and they couldn’t get the massive TV screens working in the stadium so it was impossible to know how many minutes were left to play throughout the game. Although West Ham fans sang loudly and proudly at kick-off, their voices were quickly extinguished after Brighton’s first goal on 10 minutes.

As the second killer goal went in just before halftime West Ham fans turned on West Ham fans inside the stadium.  I  personally witnessed a couple of incidents in my block 113 in the West stand of arguing, pushing and shoving and at halftime police rushed into the back of block 114 for another incident where one West Ham fan was arrested and hauled off.

As the third goal went in on 75 minutes there was further trouble at Club London next to the director’s box as some kind of altercation broke out in the corporate hospitality area. By then embarrassed by a 3-0 defeat at home by Brighton the London Stadium largely emptied and West Ham fans made their long way home in disbelief what they had just witnessed on the pitch. It is on nights like last night that the London Stadium doesn’t feel like our new home.

  1. Stop blaming the stadium; if the football was half decent, we’d never mention it. It’s simply about the abject performances – we’ve seen just as bad at UP and never blamed that.

What anyone saw in Arnautovic beats me – on what I’ve seen of him he’s a complete waste of time, money and skin.

I’ve always supported Bilic, but I don’t see how he can carry on now. Clearly none of the players are interested, with the possible exception of Zabaleta and occasionally Hart. Why none of the youngsters get a look in baffles me when the ‘seasoned internationals’ are so obviously below standard.

The big question is who to bring in.

    • Ancelotti or Mancini when available; until then Terry Westley as care-taker manager-at least the young guys would get a fair go!

  2. Personaly Sybil I don’t give a toss how toxic it is in this 💩hole of a athletics fish bowl ?
I hope it burns down !!! Hate the place ! Forced to give up my Upton park football ground and come and spend the remaining years of my life unhappy watching the team I love sink into the abyss to boot! Lifeless , soulless , that’s how it feels and don’t give a monkeys dildo what the newby acceptancy brigade think or say !! You move on as I can’t !! 💩hole with a capital S 😈

    • hang in there mate- I understand perfectly how you feel..
After just surviving emergency coronary by-pass surgery (May), I was hoping for better things to come, as we all did.
“Now I’m old, I’m wise and smart, but just a man with half a heart” I wonder how it might have been, had I not cast my fate to the wind”
Love the ways the Spurs boys are playing, but leaving West Ham-never, never!!

      • Yes me too maxi not a bypass but irreparable they said , left ventricle something or other , enlarged ? Feked !!! And walking up those fekin stairs kills me every time !
I’ve put in a request for a defibralator to be installed under my seat , this shyte I’ve been watching may well bring one on I’m sure ! I do get a bit agitated 😂 !
I gave blood for this club years back ? Literally lol , this fekin place and dross I’m watching will be the end of me for sure 😂 this club is in my soul and always will be , still onwards and fingers crossed that bilic is out after the meeting ! Wish you well max !!!👍

  3. I heard the brain dead morons in the BML singing ‘where were you at Upton Park’ to some of their fellow fans. The same idiots sing in support of Bilic and Noble. They are too thick to realise that we are all West Ham fans – we don’t have glory hunters amongst us. Their negativity doesn’t help anyone.

    • They should f@ck off back to UP if they think only proper fans had season tickets there, they are probably the sort that claim they were in the ICF probably but would most likely think a knuckleduster is something David Gold might sell on Ann Summers for adult play… clueless morons…

  4. Poor night in so many ways. Booing during game can only make negativity in players even worse, we are supposed to lift them more resolve Hammers fans!!
I can only expect a thrashing at Wembley if we approach another game with such lack of fight and guile. I would normally back boards long view with manager but despite money spent we still look clueless against relatively mediocre opposition. I suspect that is part of the problem with the players, they just expected to turn up and BHA roll over. You have to fight to win the right to play…. we rarely show that quality and for that alone we at the point where we recruit a manager who can motivate individuals and off-load the expensive mercenaries who have taken the team backwards over the last 15/18 months. That may mean ditching the style over outcome philosophy, we simply dont have the financial clout to compete with the cash of the top 6 to buy that sort of luxury in the current environment.
Finally, with Carroll and Sakho out, was it not an opportunity to get Martinez on the bench? We need to show some in the squad that there is a fight for places in such an underperforming side.

  5. A ground and an area that doesn’t feel like home, and a load of players that have only been there 5 minutes. Are we now, as Seinfield once said, just “cheering for laundry”?

  6. As The Stadium debate rises again, I feel as West Ham fans we latch on to anything we can to deflect the issues. I will not accept the LS hasn’t some part to play in this situation, because as soon as things don’t go well the stadium turns toxic, if we were smashing teams every week, we probably wouldn’t moan so much about it, it is a poxy ground, we should never have took it without totally redeveloping it, but we’re stuck with it, also on the empty seats issue, at UP, you would struggle to get a beer in, particularly at HT, at the LS, you can get beer pretty much all game, so while our team are performing at the moment, a few more beers are a better option, I understand WHU don’t receive the takings for refreshments, I wonder if that’s why it’s never mentioned. It would explain why around the 70 th minute mark some of the fans are about ready to throw a few cuffs, there pretty much lashed up by then.
