Transfer rumours turn captain’s head

|

AbbieFulham captain Tom Cairney has reportedly had his head turned by interest from West Ham claim sources close to Fulham who expect him to leave before the transfer deadline.

Independent journalist Charlie Jones claims the Fulham captain is set to leave the Whites during the January transfer window saying a £15 million bid was rejected earlier this week by The Cottagers however a revised bid including add-ons is thought to have been accepted.

Fulham have seemingly already set their targets on Cairney’s replacement with Jones saying Fulham have made contact with Rubin Kazan over the transfer of Ex Blackburn Rovers midfielder Ruben Rochina. It is thought that Rochina would be a direct replacement for the departing captain adopting the same attacking midfield role.

Cairney’s girlfriend Abbie Richards has added more fuel to rumours by posting a Sky Sports story about his boyfriend moving to West Ham.  She posted a screenshot on Instagram talking about her stress levels over the latest rumours.

Cairney himself started following West Ham Captain Mark Noble on twitter just to stoke the rumours a little further while he posted a photo of himself playing pool as Fulham played without him as they travel to Barnsley.

So far Fulham is refusing to sell their star man as Cairney signed a contract extension just last summer until 2021.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic angrily told reporters “I’m not talking about rumours. I know Tom Cairney is happy here, that’s it, that’s the only comment I can make.”

Anybody seen Fulham this season? Be interested to hear any opinions on Cairney, although this may be just another rumour that goes nowhere. I get the feeling there is not going to be much more activity this month. Quite pleased with the Mario deal, although a bit concerned that he has only started twice this season. Not another injury prone player I hope. Imagine he is going two take time to get match fit.

Went over Fulham a few times last year. Cairney is a good player, picks a pass bit of creativity and box to box.

Cairney is good had his stand out season last season but has had Knee issues & is injury prone.
I like him but 27 & injury but is a tidy passer but if going to spend £20m plus Maddison for me. Miyes says he wants durable players that can play twice a week.
Maddison 21 6 years younger both AMs but Maddison can play striker & wing. His dribble & movement is incredible & he only scores screamers & free kick goals. Creative fit Engislh yooung will only get better 9 goals 8 assists few shy of what Cairney did all last season.

And his goal today he only scores goals like this great w take ons.

Like Cairney & would take him but Norwich have less chance off going up really & if spending big money go for present & future

That’s just me tho him & Dendoncker to cover back be great bc now w Obiang out & out clashed by Wigan we need a Pace & Play maker & this kid is it

Check him out on youtube H64 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WcmGn0_CdE the kids a player, if we miss out on him it will be the same as missing out on Kante imho, he has it all he is the player we have been missing, left footed, heads up, plenty of strength of pace a ready made replacement for Lanzini if we sold him, I would pay 25 or 30 million for him because he is that good.

  • Hammerkip says:

He would be a great singing IMO but will dithering Dave get the deal done ?…

Todays game at Wigan is showing exactly what we need.Without Arnie and Lanzini we are woefully short of creativity.Need to get at least 2 more signings done by Weds otherwise all the hard work to get out of trouble could return.Palace match will be very interesting now and Moyes has to push for another creative midfielder and striker and please just sign Dendoncker or regret it big time.
