Earlier this week, the Moore Than Just A Podcast team caught up with Hammers cult hero John Moncur in the latest Claret and Hugh interview in a series of former players.

In describing his Hammers 176 game career John singled out his away goal against Aston Villa in March 1995 as his best and favourite goal in a Claret and Blue shirt. Despite scouring the internet and youtube we couldn’t find the goal in question so we called on Claret and Hugh Irons historian Nigel Kahn to raid his vast collection of West Ham videos for a copy of this goal. So here it is John Moncur’s favourite goal uploaded to youtube.  Thanks Nigel.

The team that day was: Ludek Miklosko, Stev Potts, Tim Breaker, Julian Dicks, Marc Rieper, Don Hutchinson, John Moncur, Ian Bishop, Matty Holmes, Martin Allen and Tony Cottee. The game was won 2-0 with Moncur and Hutchinson on the score sheet.
