We don’t want your rejects – Irons fans speak out

|

West Ham historically has been a club which has been ready to take on cast the cast offs from other London clubs of as they have headed into the twilight of their careers.

ClaretandHugh argued those days were at an end if we could maximise our revenue with a 66,000 London Stadium capacity.

No more John Radfords (pictured below), Mitchell Thomas’s or Ilie Dumitrescu’s. Here’s what the CandH FB forum @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/made of it all.

JohnRadford_zps6d9f2347O I can understand fans’ misgivings about the move – especially since I’m 20 years removed from regularly attending, now living in Texas – but it had to happen for the club to move forward. Wanting to stay is anchoring the club with no more potential.
O A very measured and sensible assessment of the current situation. Maybe it takes a view from someone outside the ‘bubble’ to see it for what it is. Our chance to become a real force in the Premier League. If only some people would wake up and smell the coffee.
O Sheringham was OK!! The rest not!

O How many did we sell before their prime? Lampard, Rio, Allen, Carrick, Peters, Cole, Johnson…..
The real question is, “Can we keep hold of our best players when the likes of Man Utd, City etc come sniffing around”.

O Yes, hopefully we have moved forward and should be looking for talent to push us onwards but let’s not look down on players who did a decent job for us whilst in the claret and blue.
O We are a different club now. Our Board want to be leading a winning club that competes in Europe. To do that they have to invest, as they have done.
O Away games are awesome, my son prefers them to home as the atmosphere, banter etc is amazing

O Buying has beens was one thing but selling out best youth was what has really hurt me over the years, especially when you see them become the spine of a successful team.

O Teddy did ok and we’ve ad far worst than Wright but as pointed out we’ve moved on now with the likes of Töre Calleri & Nordtveit 😊
O Like to think we wont go down the ‘old boy’ route again. Improved finances will help there, but it willl also show our younger talent that we are now a progressive club and one worth sticking with to win honours and progress their careers. That’s the opportunity the Davids have given us. Although some will refuse to see that no matter what.
