West Ham Jota rumours denied by Brentford

jotaWest Ham have been made odds on overnight favourites at 1/2 to sign Jota from Brentford despite being a 10/1 chance just a few days ago.

West Ham are listed at 1/2 with Newcastle 5/1, Burnley and Derby 16/1 Swansea and Huddersfield 25/1 and Everton, Brighton, Nottingham Forest at Leicester City at 33/1. He is listed as 9/4 to stay at Brentford.

However, today, Bees manager Dean Smith has rejected the reports that star forward could be set to leave Brentford by confirming that the club are yet to receive an offer for the Spaniard.

The 26-year old had previously been left out of a friendly against Aldershot as speculation surrounding his future mounted, but he was recalled for their 4-3 win over Oxford United on Wednesday and starred again in a 2-2 draw with Southampton on Saturday.

There had been reports that Premier League clubs were closing in on Jota, but Smith have denied that any deal is close.  “I can deny it because we haven’t had a bid at all,” Smith said when asked whether Jota would be leaving the Bees by BBC London.

  1. Doesn’t seem to fit the profile of players we are targeting if we have a bid accepted then we will see.
