Voldemort, West Ham are coming for you

SHELVEYDARKLORDDavid Moyes is lining up a move for Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey claims a report by John Cross in the Daily Mirror.

Moyes is desperate to strengthen his midfield in January and Shelvey is claimed to be on Moyes’ transfer wish-list as he believes his passing and aggression could be crucial as he looks to rebuild his squad.

25-year-old year Shelvey has been dropped and sent off twice this season and is no longer a guaranteed starter under Rafa Benitez.

The boyhood West Ham fan earned the nickname Voldemort after West Ham fans sung “Harry Potter he’s coming for you” over his resemblance to the fictional character.

Newcastle boss Benitez may be tempted to sell Shelvey if it means being able to shake-up his squad. The only sticking point could be selling to a direct rival but West Ham are keen to get deals done for January. Newcastle would want the £12m they paid for him two years ago.

  1. A perfect fit in my view. Slow, ponderous, hardly ever scores and doesn’t track back enough. Dunno why we didn’t buy him years ago. Oh yes I do, we’ve already got a handful of this type!

  2. He is inconsistent for sure Jimbo but he can create and he isn’t frightened to stick the boot in unlike many we have although that of course is a double edged sword hence his red card record, he is the midfield equivalent of Andy Carroll, world class on his day but thats not every day, I personally think he would be an ok signing maybe even better than that but perfectly willing to accept I could be 100% wrong in that belief 😉
