West Ham set to announce new keeper

EXCLUSIVE

West Ham is set to announce their second signing of the summer – Swansea keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Terms are now said to have been agreed between the clubs as well as personal terms with the 33- year-old Polish National.

CandH has learned exclusively that all being well Fabianski should put pen to paper this week with an official announcement by the weekend.

Fabianski made 38 appearances for Swansea City last season keeping eight clean sheets while picking up three  man of the match awards. He is a former Arsenal player joining from Legia Warsaw in 2007 in a deal worth £2.1 million.  After seven years and 78 appearances at Arsenal Fabiański joined Swansea City on a free transfer in 2014 after his Arsenal contract expired on 1 July.

The Polish shot-stopper has made 150 appearances for Swansea in all competitions over four  years and the Irons are expected to match his £50,000 per week wages he earned for the Welsh club.

It is not clear at this point whether he is being brought in to give competition to Adrian or whether another keeper could join if Adrian decides to move to Spain.

  1. where does that leave adrian who s younger of similar ability ?

  2. I really don’t understand this purchase. We have a keeper of a similar ability who is extremely loyal to the cause. What is the point of replacing him with a like for like who doesnt have a link/care for the club. If he was better i would understand. Just WEIRD

  3. Good signing. Inexpensive but very experienced and as others say as good as Adrian. Adrian needs someone to keep him at his best in goal. Keepers always work hard together as a team, and these two should do the same, and let the best man win.
If Adrian wants to leave just because we would rather have 2 keepers, then he already wanted to leave anyway. I think he should stay and fight for his place.

  4. A strange signing in my book. I don’t believe he’s any better than what we have – surely the only reason to sign a goalkeeper is to have a new No.1? Will he be prepared to spend long spells on the bench? A bit puzzling to me…

  5. Looks pretty ridiculous to me, especially if those wages are accurate we should be aiming much higher if we are going to replace Adrian.

  6. Seems daft to me . Adrian is probably better and younger . But then again I’m not Pellegrini or the Board . That is of course if it was sanctioned by Pellegrini !! .

  7. One enormous question I have which is totally unrelated to the Green Jersey is ; Just why West Ham haven’t put the Anautovic speculation to bed by doing something to keep him .
It seems like half hearted efforts to keep him . Man Utd have robbed us far too frequently in the past . I say we should tell the Manks to take a flying jump off a short pier . Why haven’t we done that ?…

    • Keeps us in the news Kevin which is what DS seems to like, no point thinking too much about it, he will either go or he will stay nothing we can do will change that, I hope the Balotelli rumours are true, he is a World Class talent like Arnie and would be a real handful as for Fabianski, he is ok imho not as good as Adrian, if he is a reserve thats ok but if not why not identify someone that will make us better in that position.

    • But if there has been no enquiry or bid there is nothing to say. They can’t go ringing up any club that is linked after every media report. Who says the interest is real? Even Arnie says no contact.

      • I think if Jose went directly to Arnie’s brother/agent without Irons consent – he’d be done for tapping up – so – either Jose is guilty, he hasn’t done it or West Ham has allowed it and is keeping tight-lipped.

    • its because its all made up, the problem these days. Someone runs a story, boom every one believes it.

@ex hammer has already confirmed we have had know contact for Man U, and they didn’t bring it up when contacted them asking availability of there players.

    • Don’t be taken in by silly rumours.

  8. Another name that must have come up on Premiership Manager Computer Game, I do not want to Adrian to leave, but if I was him I would have doubts how the owners see his future.

  9. Can’t see the problem we need 2 keepers so fabianski and Adrian can battle for the shirt..Adrian can’t demand to be our number one he has to work for his p!ace like all the team ..

  10. I am totally lost for words ay why we would sign players like Fabianski snd Mawson. These are players who played in the defense of a team who got relegated. Average players – just cant believe what is happening to our once great club.

  11. We cannot operate with only one keeper so this is a reasonable back up. We could have spent 25 mill or so on a top new number 1 but we have more pressing needs for our money. Next year we will probably go big but for now, needs must.
