West Ham to apply for 60,000 capacity on Monday

|

karren-brady_2597986bWest Ham Vice Chairman Karren Brady says the club will apply for an increase of capacity to 60,000  at the London Stadium next Monday when the Newham Safety Advisory Group  (SAG) meets again.

Brady wrote on  her personal twitter account “There are 66,000 seats in the ground and we only have a license to sell 57,000 all 57k sold out” in a response to one West Ham fan who challenged her over hundreds of empty seats visible each game.

Brady was in fact referring to the number of tickets sold rather than the number who turn up each game. When called a lier by one fan over capacity claims she snapped back “What lies have we told about the capacity? we currently have 57k, moving to 60k and we hope to get to 66k for next season”

Challenged on whether there was 50,000 peoples on the season ticket waiting list Brady defended herself saying “You’re right it is not 50k it is 52k”

When asked by another supporter when the club were planning to increase capacity the Baroness answered: ” (We) will apply Monday at the SAG. If successful our first act will be to invite the supporters moved to block 127 the chance to move back to 114″

The Safety Advisory Group is a large group made up of Newham Council, Met Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, St John Ambulance,  Westfield shopping centre, London Stadium 185, London Underground,  LLDC, West Ham United, SGSA, Expedient Security, Momentum, British Transport Police, E20 Stadium LLP, TFL and South Eastern.
