West Ham wanted me to stay claims Ayew

Andre Ayew says West Ham did not try and force him out of the club, despite reports which claimed boss David Moyes had told him he was surplus to requirements.

He said in an interview: “They did everything to get me to stay and we spoke a lot, but I felt I wanted to move on for personal and professional reasons. There were a lot of things in the press but it was the other way around.”

“It was very difficult for me to leave the club. I had to leave on the last day around six or seven in the evening before it was decided. There were long discussions but in the end, I managed to make it happen so I was quite happy.
