Zarate: “very much a part of things”

GoldMauro Zarate will definitely be fit and “raring to go” for the trip to Everton after the international break.

The player is understood to have suffered a “very minor niggle” from an ankle problem in  the build up to Saturday’s game against Aston Villa.

But ClaretandHugh was assured this morning that he will be through the problem for the match against The Toffees.

We had blogged our own fears that the player was becoming the club’s forgotten man after the Argentinian failed to make the squad for the Villa match.

But co chairman David Gold revealed: “Mauro is very much part of the first team squad but there’s no need to take chances on players when so many are fit and available.

“We are in a very strong position at the moment and there is nothing suspicious about this at all. Mauro is a valued player and like many others, really having to challenge for his place in all circumstances.”

We at Claretandhugh are delighted hear all of that.
