I was tempted to entitle this article ‘the madness of Stan Collymore’ but probably nobody would think I was being flippant – I don’t seriously think the former Liverpool striker has lost his marbles. But when I read what he’d been saying to the illustrious footballfancast.com I did have to scratch my head in amazement.
If I tell you the article runs below a subheading of :”Stan Collymore tips West Ham to sign Man City star Jack Grealish” then all will become clear.
This is the Jack Grealish who is earning £300,000 a week – twice what West Ham’s highest earner is being paid. The Jack Grealish who cost Manchester City £100 million in a then club record deal. As Collymore is quoted as claiming he’d be discounted by sides such as Aston Villa – his former club because “Jack’s output is nowhere near the required level.”
But: “If you are one of the clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton, you probably couldn’t afford him. You could probably see him at a club like West Ham, bizarrely, because they have got the money and London as clout.”
Someone needs to ‘memo’ Stan Collymore – West Ham haven’t got £100m or anything like it for the whole summer rebuild – for half a dozen players: Even if they had, I suspect, like Marcus Rashford, Grealish comes complete with an attitude that would be unlikely to fit into Graham Potter’s brave new world at London Stadium.
So – thanks, but no thanks. Stan. Great for raising a smile. But this goes in the ‘circular’ bin-shaped file.
Lies and nothing but lies.
Grealish was never a £100 million player, he’s an overpriced show pony! I’d take him to West Ham on loan with an option to buy for £30 million tops! 75k per week and 3 years of free hair bands. ☘️⚒️
It’s barely a year since the last Dud from Manchester City came to us – a certain Mister Phillips, wo was a total disaster …… when will we ever learn!
So after “links” to Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford, Callum Wilson and all the others who are linked to us every transfer window, why do C&H give this nonsense extra publicity? They just insult our intelligence.
I don’t think that we had what was it £57m for Duran either. Do other clubs get all the barmy stuff we do ? I don’t know, I guess you’d need to follow them to know.
Talking of needing to follow things I watched Orient 3 Mansfield 0 last night and Sonny Perkins came on as an 85th minute seemingly pointless substitute.
