West Ham United‘s bid to bolster their defence with Brazilian centre-back Fabricio Bruno is not going anywhere , with personal terms proving to be a stumbling block.
According to ESPN Brazil, the crux of the issue lies in the significant difference in living costs between England and Brazil. While West Ham’s initial proposed salary reportedly came close to Bruno’s current earnings at Flamengo, it wasn’t enough to compensate for the increased expenses he’d face in England.
Despite reaching an agreement with Flamengo for a transfer fee of £12.5 million with add-ons, West Ham’s negotiations with Bruno himself have reached an impasse.
Reports suggest Bruno’s later wage demands of £100,000 per week were quite rightly considered exorbitant by the Hammers. ESPN Brazil further indicates that Bruno’s inclusion in Flamengo’s starting lineup suggests a low possibility of the deal being resurrected.
West Ham must now decide their next move, as he now appears to be off to the land of Petrodollars and we go back to the drawing board.
Get rid of ings then he could have his 100k ?
Yes London is more expensive and I fully understand why a 27 year old would need 1.25m signing fee and 100k a week. How a 27 year old junior doctor with a massive student debt can survive on half that, but, for a year is beyond me
We have got to start using our own youngsters.1 or 2 at a time.I hope JL thinks the same.
Well said Deathblow.
I have no objection for him getting 100 grand per week, but I would like him to prove he’s worth it. Back pay him if he is.
Surprised the great new transfer grande framage Tim didn’t have a clue talking to his agents for the past 6 months and jet setting out there every couple of months.
If Moyes had done similar he would have been slaughtered…
Kaelan Casey is the way forward, has it all.
Really interested to see what Casey has to offer this season, along with a number of the very successful U-21’s and Academy players.
£100k pw for Bruno, who is only rated as a Euro 8.7mil player….. NEXT!

Whether he’s good enough or not – 100,000 is normal for a first team player. We shouldn’t be in for him if he isn’t good enough, so this must be the board being as short sighted as a blind person as per usual.
I take it there are no ffp type rules covering Saudi pro league.
Less than a thousand supporters for most games but can top any transfer fee and double the wages!
The guy is old and slow . Stick with Oggy . at least he loves Westham and puts in everything .
Great comment.
800 fans?
I think Dave is referring to the Saudi Pro League!

Oh well. Fuck off then.
The thing that pisses me off about our transfer dealings is, we always make it too public. The whole world know about. Hence the price and associated payments shoot up. ⚒️
I mean how is the poor lamb possibly meant to survive in England on only £20,000+ per week?
I very much doubt he’s living in a favella on a few $$$ day considering he’s on £10k/wk so doubt it’ll be that much cheaper than England.
Up to him though as it’s his last big payday so cant really grudge him taking £100k/wk+ fir the easy option of basically retiring at 28 playing in-front of 800 “fans”.
Dump this mercenary now.
Aging, can’t do much apart from stand in front of goal, and only played for Brazil cos they were absolutely desperate.
I’d rather have a guy from the championship with an attitude like Bowen’s, not these greedy bastards.
The minute we started to buy mercenaries was when it all went wrong for Moyes. Let’s not repeat the mistakes.
Same goes for Guirassy. From the get-go he’s said the money was more important than the club he went to. F*ck right off.
Yup
Well said Deathblow.
Love it, fuck him
