Around 150 West Ham Season ticket holders that had seats in the West Stand Block 114 next to the away fans have been relocated ClaretandHugh have learnt today.
The forced move is part of a new five point safety plan to create a new sterile zone between home and away fans and their previous seats will now be covered over with netting for the remainder of the season. The season ticket holders were emailed today by the club and some have been downgraded from a band 3 to band 4 season ticket with the difference refunded. They have already been promised a comparable seat or can take up the option of a full refund for the remaining games if they desire.
We understand the season ticket holders are being moved to block 127 in Sir Trevor Brooking Lower stand which was not previously on sale to season ticket holders.
The email from the club can be found below:
Dear Season Ticket Holder
First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your continued, loyal support of West Ham United.
We want to reassure you that the safety and security of our supporters is of paramount importance to everyone here at the Club.
We are proud to welcome 10,000 Under-16 Season Ticket Holders and 25,000 people who attend as part of a family unit week-in-week-out. The Club takes its responsibility to provide a safe environment for these supporters, and for every supporter that attends a fixture at West Ham United, very seriously and it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to ensure all supporters attending matches are able to enjoy their match day experience.
We must act on the learnings gained following Wednesday night’s EFL Cup tie with Chelsea and, as a result, we are currently in the process of making changes to the layout of the away end at London Stadium. In particular, the line of segregation between home and away supporters is being extended and we must advise you that as a result we are relocating your Season Ticket seat to a comparable area of the Stadium for the remainder of the 2016/17 season, as your existing seat will now form part of the line of segregation or a sterile area in between both sets of supporters.
It is of course regrettable that we have had to make these necessary changes, but we hope you will understand the need for us to take this step. As above, the safety of our supporters is, and must always be, the Club’s primary concern.
In order to ensure we are able to offer you a comparable seat, we are making available a bank of seats that were not previously available as seasonal seats. In the new area for your seats, the first ten rows are in the Band 4 price Band and as such we shall arrange a pro-rata refund.
We will of course be sending you a new Season Ticket card ahead of the game against Arsenal on Saturday 3 December, but in the interim we will be posting you a paper ticket for the game against Stoke City. Please note that your current Season Ticket card will be deactivated ahead of this weekend’s match.
If you have any questions or issues with this process, please call the Ticket Office on 0303 031 1966 – option 3.
Of course, if you would prefer, we are able to offer you a pro-rata refund for your Season Ticket for the remaining games this season. Please call the Ticket Office should you wish to discuss this option.
We reiterate once more that we have deemed this development a necessity to maintain the safety of yourself and your fellow supporters and we regret any inconvenience that it may cause. Rest assured these are steps that we must take to ensure that London Stadium delivers the match day experience that you and your fellow fans deserve.
In the meantime, once again you have our assurance that we are continuing to review CCTV with London Stadium from the game against Chelsea and anticipate further banning orders will be issued to anyone found to have behaved improperly.
Feel a bit for those getting moved if they liked their seats, but if they were right next to away fans, they will probably be better off,and will be able to concentrate more on the football.
Away fans this year have by and large tried to take advantage of poor security to try and cause trouble.
You haven’t heard of West Ham away fans causing grief.Which just shows if you don’t provoke West Ham fans we are a good bunch.COYI
