Wolves signing could pave way for right back loan

Fulham defender Richard Stearman is reportedly returning to Wolves on a season-long loan move, according to Sky Sports. The 29-year-old centre-back who can also play in the right back position appears to be heading back to the club at which he spent seven years before a £2m switch to Craven Cottage last summer.

Michael Antonio is feeling quite at home England declaring:  “I’ve settled in quite well and the boys have taken to me really well.
“It is just nerve-wracking a little bit because I didn’t expect this so early in my Premier League career.”
“I said ‘Ha, funny’. He said ‘No, seriously.’ I said ‘good banter’ but I looked at him for a good 30 seconds and he looked at me.

“I wasn’t sure I could take him seriously but he showed me a piece of paper (confirming the call-up) and after that I started welling up inside. All I wanted to do was call my missus. Obviously she didn’t pick up!”

Chelsea linked with late move for Ogbonna

The Daily Express is recycling a rumour this morning that Chelsea will make a late bid for Angelo Ogbonna. They repeat report from Italian journalist  Gianluca Di Marzio who claims Chelsea are ready to make a request to West Ham over Ogbonna in the coming hours.

The report says “Conte is a fan of the centre-half who impressed in his debut season in the Premier League under Slaven Bilic. The Hammers are expected to try and fend off late interest from their London rivals though, and Chelsea have lined up a back-up plan.”  (That backup plan is thought to be David Luiz)

What to expect on transfer deadline day

Like every year, the summer window officially opened on July 1st, but players, agents and the clubs were discussing contract terms and final fees long before then. The transfer window will slam shut on tonight at 11.30pm. Unlike last year, there will be no emergency loan window, and no separate deadline day for loans. Any loan deals must be completed by the end of the normal transfer window on August 31st.
