West Ham United have agreed on the transfer deal to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United, and he will undergo his medical this morning.

The 22-year-old Dutchman will travel to the United States to join up with his Hammers teammates ahead of the weekend’s friendly match against Crystal Palace.

The transfer fee is understood to be a basic £25 million with an additional £5 million paid in extras based on performance and appearances. Summerville, who was the best player in last season’s Championship, will sign a five-year deal, and it is expected that the West Ham obligatory ‘option’ will be included at the club’s discretion.

The transfer is something of a coup for the Hammers’ transfer team and Tim Steidten, who have been working on the deal for the tricky winger for some time.

The Feyenoord academy graduate has been strongly linked with the Elland Road exit door all window and was targeted as the one big sale Leeds needed to make before the Profit & Sustainability Rules deadline closed.

But instead, Leeds sold Archie Gray for £40 million to Tottenham, meaning that the Yorkshire club was not forced to sell any other stars. Fortunately, West Ham managed to convince them to part with Summerville, which should prompt a flurry of activity from Daniel Farke in the transfer market.

Great business , good player , need to get wan Bissaka over the line as well.

Anyone that has watched Summerville play, whether it was last year on the championship or the year before in the premier league, would know how well he has been playing and for £25M I think we have secured a top talent and an exciting player who plays of the left as an inside forward and loves to dribble past players with his pace and trickery. I am very excited by this signing. I would love for us to get Walker-Peters as a full back backup and all that we would need urgently would be a forward. The other positions like CM and CB, we can live with for the time being.

If this young man turns out to be anywhere near as good as Bowen it will be excellent business done. I always think there is so much talent in the Championship we should look closer to home more often.

Just a FW, RB, CB and CM to get now to improve our starting XI.

Would love the above to be Wahi, Wan-Bissaka, Challobah, and Forfana!

That’s £100M for all of the above so probably dreaming. Imagine how strong we’d be though. J-Lo would have all the tools to get us back in to Europe!

    COYI ⚒️♥️🩵

CM? We spent 60m on CMs a year ago, plus 40m on Paqueta two years ago. The last position we need to be spending money on right now.

      • Matt says:

Soucek isn’t going to fit J-Lo’s possession based philosophy or fit in a 4-3-3. Not sure JWP does either.

Someone like Forfana but equally Soler at PSG allows us to play the J-Lo way. Alvarez, Soler and Paqueta would be an impressive three man midfield.

The CM’s we signed were Moyes type players that offered little protection to the back four with the exception of Alvarez.

We need an experienced player that can break up play and pick a forward pass. We then can blood players like Earthy & Orford without too much expectation.

        • Sam says:

Can’t be spending 30m on players at the same position every year because we’re “not sure” of something. Any evidence that JWP wouldn’t fit in will have to come in the season. He also led the team in assists last year, so not exactly someone who didn’t contribute. The point is that if spend like that on the same position every window, we’re going to be broke like Everton.

          • Matt says:

PSR is spread over 3 year periods Sam that I’m 100% sure of.

JWP takes a great corner but is limited mobility wise. We can make sales in the 3 year period. It makes sense to buy first and sell from a position of strength.

We are nothing like Everton as far as PSR is concerned. Don’t forget Kudus will fetch £85m and Paquetá a similar fee if proven innocent.

£170m for just 2 players ensures we can spend in the next couple of windows and never be like Everton that I’m “sure off” too!

  • Matt says:

In Tim we trust! Quality signing, young, dynamic, pace and an eye for goal!

August is always the month for deals getting done. Too many fans get taken in by the hype of all the nonsense transfer stories.

Tim once again has secured a top talent and surprisingly with no sell on clause.

  • Wayward says:

It sees like we have done pretty well here on the price. Impressed.
