West Ham fans are likely to be pretty unanimous as to who ‘the best signing’ of the last twelve months has been. More than likely the leader in the polling for Hammer of the Year, Mateus Fernandes will be at the top of most West Ham fans’ lists.
The youngster has excelled in a claret and blue shirt and thoroughly justified his almost Kilmanesque £40 million price tag.
Frequently top of the ‘wonderkid rankings‘ even in a relegation-threatened season, the young Portuguese midfielder has added steel and creativity to the Irons side and ensured that Lucas Paquetá hasn’t been missed one iota.
However the identity of the worst signing is something of a surprise, according to 3addedminutes.com’s analysis.
You’d expect fans to be pretty universal in their agreement that Brazilian Pablo Felipe is bottom of the pile and vastly overpriced at the €20 million which West Ham paid for his services in January: No goals, one assist and not much to show from the hundreds of kilometres run in the cause.
Not so, according to the report: For alongside Pablo at the bottom of the West Ham United rankings for signings in 2025/6 with a paltry 4/10, is another, equally poor player! As 3am writes, somewhat uncharitably:
“Jean-Clair Todibo: 4/10 – West Ham’s most expensive signing at £33m fell out with former manager Julen Lopetegui last season when he was initially at the club on loan, and struggled to convince Graham Potter of his value too.

He bounced back under Santo with some fine performances over the winter months, but a costly red card against Chelsea followed by a calf injury have very much stalled his resurgence, leaving him reduced to warming the bench.
Which seems mean spirited to say the least. Todibo is streets ahead of Max Kilman and whilst he may not be a first choice, surely deserves a little respect as having grown into the side with improved performances under Nuno. Fans will no doubt have their own opinion, but Todibo has at least looked to be fit and fast when called upon.
And if nothing else he saves the Hammers from the prospect of having Kilman on the bench. Which puts him streets ahead of Pablo in my book.
Todibo was playing quite well, then Adama started that dust up with Chelsea and he was sent off banned for three games. Disasi and Mavropanos stepped up and were undroppable.
Way ahead of Pablo, as honest and willing as he is all he adds is energy.
I find it hard to believe that the weight of West Ham fan opinion puts Todibo ahead of Killman, Pablo or Traore on this worst of the worst list. None of them come out of this season with any real credit, but Todibo is not the worst.
