5,000 OS tickets for general sale

|

osWest Ham Chairman, David Gold has revealed on twitter that 5,000 tickets in the former Olympic Stadium will remain on ‘general sale’ to the Claret & Blue membership and priority/waiting list members.

Although the figure of 52,000 season ticket holders has been widely publicised this week in the media, 3,700 of these will be corporate members in the plush lounges so there will be around 48,300 normal season ticket holders, 1,100 of which will occupy the most expensive 1966 padded seats. Premier League regulations require 3,000 tickets to be reserved for away fans but some of these tickets may be sold if clubs do not take their full allocation (assuming the away area can be safely segregated).

Those wanting to get their hands on the 5,000 tickets next season will have to either become a Claret member for £39 per season or by the sound of Gold’s announcement join the £10 priority/waiting list which the has confirmed is in excess of 30,000 strong.

The news almost definitely means West Ham will be forced to fulfil their Newham resident contractual promise of up to 100,000 free tickets per year in friendlies, youth games and cup games.

The deadline for season ticket holders for the first friendly with Juventus has been extended twice in the last few days after disappointing sales so far. The new deadline is Sunday 15th May.
