£60k a week Reid “cheap at half the price”

leroylogoLeroy Rosenior believes Winston Reid – at £60,000 a week – is ‘cheap at half the price’ to West Ham!.

Like the rest of the Irons faithful ClaretandHugh’s top analyst is hoping the team’s early season form will encourage the central defender to stay at the club.

He believes the lengthy delay means nothing more than the player is studying all his options – which is a sensible thing to do – and that he could still sign a new deal.

But he warned: “Although £60k a week is a huge amount of money it’s still cheap at half the price for West Ham because to replace him would cost a lot more..

“My reckoning over a four year deal is that he would cost £10 million ish. To get somebody as good in you are going to pay something very close to that plus the same or more in a transfer fee.

“There’s also the  fact that he knows the team and the club inside out and backwards and is widely respected. I hope he signs and it’s too early to give up hope as some may be doing.

“Keep the faith.”

  1. Completely correct Winston is well worth that type of wage, and some club will pay it and even more. Why and whoever agreed to pay Carroll £80K plus, it is the robbery of the century, take £40,000 off AC and give it to Reid, Andy would still be overpaid.

It all comes down to one man The Manager, just like he does not seem able or willing to look at Elliot as a striker, while he continues to score goals, he has his two favourites and that is as far as he can see! well time the co-owners started to pull Sam in a little, they own Our Club.

  2. Has not played well for nearly a year now ,if he is that good why have we not had an offer for him. We have made him a great offer but he is still messing us about. No one is bigger than the club. SELL HIM.

  3. when people say ‘cheap at half the price’ usually they mean cheap at twice the price .. of course 30k is cheaper than 60k .. although neither are what you would call cheap .. sorry for being a pedant but it is amazing the number of people who use words and phrases with not much of idea of what they actually mean..literally!

  4. Dear JB8, your right no one is bigger than the club, but, here is the ‘BUT’ look at Man U at present with no top quality centre back, if we sell him to them, (or anyone else) who are the losers ‘US’……..He is the spine of our present team, if Man U can’t find a centre half were will we get one with our financial restraints. Leroy is right keep him even if we have to shell out a better offer, the guy is still the best centre back we have had since Slavan Bilic.

  5. Get moving and sign him up
