Hugh hands out the marks
Fabianski: Probably unsighted for the goal and made some quite remarkable saves. Top keeper 7
Zaba: Captain again and did okay but the legs seem to be finding him out a bit and was subbed in second half 6
Diop: Top defending at times but out of position for one Huddersfield chance and perhaps less certain than previously this season 6
Balbuena: Truly The General. Some great interventions and usually in charge 7
Cresswell: Very sound defensively and on his limited forays forward showed plenty of potential 7
Rice: Showed he’s human after all when the Pritchard shot for the Town goal passed through his legs but generally at a high standard again 7
Obiang: Quiet game and subbed in the second period with the emphasis being put on attack 6
Anderson: Plenty of frustration at times but what a goal and that was really all that mattered 7
Diangana: Great early through ball should have produced an Arnie goal. Loads of energy and runs and unfortunate from his point of view that he was subbed at half time 6
Snodgrass: Terrific energy and fine delivery from set pieces (usually). Begins to look a bit leggy but can’t fault the effort. 6
Arnautovic: One lost opportunity to score early on but always a danger whipping in balls in front of goal and looking to put others in. Another good day for the main man 7
SUBS:
Chicharito: Looked so dangerous when he arrived heading onto the top of the net and proving a menace around the box but faded as things progressed 5
Fredericks: Took over from a tiring Zaba but produced little of note 4
Antonio: Once again worked really hard and starting to look more like the player know. Header cleared off the line and always troubling defenders 6
Too be honest with you hugh I think you’re being kind to a few players. If noble would have given the ball away like rice did for the goal I’m sure also you would have been very harsh on him. I didn’t see any sign of Antonio showing signs of his former self either.
It was diop who had a header off the line.
Disagreed before and going to again. Not here for an argument, just a different opinion.
Diop 5. Gave the ball away for their goal and almost did it again soon after. Improved as game went off but crucial mistake
Balbuena 5. Had little to do apart from long balls and he lost loads of them. They smashed the crossbar from a corner from his poor defending of a cross.
Cresswell 5. Pulled out of so many tackles, made a shocking pass to Fabianski, offered very little going forward and liability at the back
Rice 4. Time and time again he gave the ball away. His worst game for ages.
Fredericks 5. No way was Cresswell a 7 and he a 4 as you scored. As good/bad as Cresswell.
