8,000 plan not to renew season tickets

Over 8,000 season ticket holders will not renew their West Ham season tickets when the season ticket deadline passes next Friday if a Claret and Hugh poll is to be believed.

With over 1,000 season ticket holders voting nearly 61% say they have already renewed with over 24% saying they plan to renew before next Friday’s deadline on 31st May.

That leaves 15% who claim they will walk away and give up their London Stadium season tickets.

With 54,000 season tickets at the London Stadium with an increased 60,000 capacity that equals to 8,200 tickets potentially becoming available.

Last year 92% renewed leaving over 4,000 season tickets for those on the waiting list, the previous year it was a 90% renewal rate meaning 5,000 decided not to renew after the first year.

If the 15% non-renewal figure is accurate it means over 17,000 will have given up their season tickets since the move to the London Stadium in 2016 with a previous season ticket population of 26,000 at the Boleyn Ground in the final season.

  1. There was always season tickets available at the Boleyn ground up until the final season. The way season tickets were originally sold at the London Stadium allowed ticket agents (touts) companies etc to buy as many as they liked , also a huge increase in price in ten thousand kids season tickets will not help sales ,to be honest we have an hard core fan base of around 30,000 , which go to most home games , the other 27,000 pick and choose which games they wish to attend or unsold agency tickets & Newham fire tickets that’s why there are always empty seats around the sold out stadium .

  2. Hopefully some of those season tickets were owned by fans of other teams that took advantage of the cheap London Premiership prices but have now decided not to renew which will open up opportunities for true Hammers to buy them and add to the atmosphere which has been getting better every game. Where I sat last season there were different faces around me every game which made it difficult to really get any noise generated. Fingers crossed on an improvement this season.

  3. The polls always over estimate the attrition rate, then high number renew anyway, 7-8 % is normal for any club. There are allegedly so many on the waiting list I am not sure at this stage it is significant. If it did become so it would probably be good news for MP because the chairmen would dig deeper to increase funds for a big name signing.

  4. I don’t believe there is a waiting list a friend of mine wanted one for the first season at London stadium and couldn’t get one.
second season he was contacted to see if he wanted to have one as on waiting list he declined he has been contacted again last season third season and again declined this would indicate no waiting list.
