£85m summer spending spree may be on cards

West Ham maybe heading for an £85 million summer spend in the transfer window.

ClaretandHugh has done the sums and with £45 million consistently made available another £40 million could and perhaps should be added to Slaven Bilic’s budget.

The club saved  £20m by not signing Simone Zaza in a deal they were obliged to pay if he reached a certain number of appearances.

And they also have a balance of £7m left from the sale of Dimitri Payet for £25m after spending £10m on Snodgrass and £8m on Fonte in the January transfer window.

And were they to receive £13m for Enner Valencia from Everton over the summer this will give them an extra £40m on top of their normal £45m budget.

Supporters will be disappointed if the board and manager spend the summer chasing free transfers, expensive loan deals and sub-standard players.

If we truly want to move on to the next level we need to spend big and spend well – the sums appear to add up!

  1. I would like to think we can add to the kitty by selling Fehgouli for £8million, Sahko for £6million, Snodgrass for £5 million ( we paid way to much for him ) Fletcher for £2million and Carrol for whatever we can get .
So we could possibly be looking at a kitty of £100 million.

    • £100 million?

What planet are you on, the dildo brothers and the baroness are more likely to give us 100 pence to play with.

  2. Badly needed, the Squad needs strengthening massively – having no attack for virtually the whole Season has cost us dearly. A goalkeeper, right-back, central defender, midfielder, strikers – virtually a new team.

Incidentally, if Everton spend anything on Valencia I’ll buy and eat some of that disgusting Popcorn!

  3. Everton wont buy Enner will they.I will be well surprised if they do.
I hope they do now so you have to get your chops round some popcorn Mick The Miller 😀

  4. At some point we have to break into paying big money to buy the best players, would be good if we can get that quality this summer, all the teams in the top 6 had to do it at some point, we have the nucleus of a very good squad already with a lot of great talent also in the PL2 team, two or three top internationals is all we really need to be right in the mix, as mentioned in previous posts we are in that 5th to 8th group for the squad we already, it might not look like it but we have dropped probably a record number of points from winning positions that would have us in the 3rd to 6th places this season had we converted a good chunk of them into 3 points, the truth is a lot of the teams are pretty average and it is their fitness that is seperating the wheat from the chaff not their quality, if it was based purely on quality City would have won the League because they have the best players or any team in the top 6 that had Kante (why didn’t we buy him when we had the chance god only knows). I am very optimistic no matter who the top 6 buy if we address the stamina issues of the players and press high in numbers as we did against the Spuds and Chelsea with a few quality additions we will challenge the top 4 next season COYI !!!

  5. £85mill eh?
I wonder how the season ticket renewals are going?

  6. Spend it well this time!

Alan D – can’t think they will sell Snodgrass after 4 months. Sakho will be the same problem as when the deal fell through with WBA. But it will be even worse after his relapse last week. I have been disappointed with Snodgrass- he always seemed pretty good when he was opposed to us. Maybe he will come good next season.

It is not a bad squad. Needs a few tweaks & big change up front. Above all they need to be playing as a team-as last week. Will be interesting to see if that can be continued on Sunday.

  7. £85 million, eh ? Is that net spend? Seriously, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Mind you, I recently renewed my season ticket and the decision was made without any concern of mine over who we might be signing or not.

    • Well done HH, keep the faith👍
If we did have that sort of wedge to play with, Batshuyai (I think there’s a lot more to him than we’ve seen this season) at £30mill, Pickford (good keeper in a poor team) at £20mill with Zabaletta on a freebie would do nicely thanks. Quality, not quantity.
Keep some ££ in reserve for the inevitable scrabbling around in the winter transfer window.
