West Ham United‘s transfer targets are taking shape, with Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri emerging as a potential signing, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The 26-year-old striker reportedly desires a move to the Premier League, and West Ham seem to be frontrunners in the race to secure his signature. This renewed interest comes after West Ham’s failed attempt to sign him last year.

The arrival of Julen Lopetegui as West Ham’s new manager adds another layer to this transfer story. En-Nesyri played under Lopetegui at Sevilla, making 115 appearances under the Spanish coach. This pre-existing relationship could be a “great asset” for West Ham in their pursuit of the striker.

Sport claims Sevilla values En-Nesyri at around £17.1 million. While this might not be an astronomical fee, it remains to be seen if West Ham is willing to meet that valuation.

With Lopetegui at the helm, a question arises: will West Ham prioritise signings from the Spanish market? While Lopetegui’s brief stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers didn’t allow him to fully shape the squad, his signings there (Matheus Cunha and Matt Doherty) suggest a potential focus on Spanish based players. However, Tim Steidten, West Ham’s Head of Recruitment, is also a key figure in transfer decisions, and his European connections shouldn’t be discounted.

En-Nesyri’s link to West Ham has been around for a while, so some scepticism is understandable. However, with Lopetegui’s arrival and En-Nesyri’s reported Premier League aspirations, this transfer story could take a new turn. We will be waiting to see if this reunion finally becomes a reality.

If we are interested, there is some leverage selling Downes at a reduced price, with KW-P coming in this direction F.O.C.
