The return to West Ham training of Michail Antonio, Tomas Soucek, and Vladimir Coufal caused something of a stir yesterday, and for all the wrong reasons.
A few eagle-eyed observers watched the training footage from West Ham’s pre-season camp in Florida and noticed the absence of a certain Lucas Paqueta.
This seemed to result in a few concerns among Hammer’s fans, speculating that all may not be well with the Brazilian playmaker. Fortunately, the confusion just seems to be a worry about nothing, because the player is due to join his teammates this weekend.
The concern was understandable given recent speculation that West Ham director of football, Tim Steidten, was planning a trip to Brazil to visit Paqueta. There had been reports circulating that the Hammers’ record signing was unhappy at being denied the chance to join Flamengo.
However, Claret & Hugh can happily confirm that all is well with the player, and he is understood to be looking forward to beginning training at the weekend. A high-placed West Ham source also confirmed to us this morning that recent reports had all been a fuss over nothing. Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen had both been given three weeks off following the completion of the Copa America and European Championships, respectively.
Not wanting to state the obvious but it don’t need a high placed source to tell you that almost all players get a summer holiday and those that have been on international duty take that holiday after they have been released by their respective international squads, this includes not only Paq man but the newly engaged Mr Bowen the French bloke in goal and one or two of our current transfer targets.Hopefully things will start to take shape very soon. I’m personally looking forward to the new season now the dark Scottish cloud has moved away from east London
Couldn’t agree more!
The Lopetegui playing style should suit him better, he should revel in it…
Why is it some people are never happy he’s a world class player just give the man the backing he deserves and stop moaning and I’m sure he’ll produce the goods as he has done regularly in the past for us. As for the ticket price increase it’s all about supply and demand and it doesn’t matter whether you like those in charge or not our club has been run financially very sensibly on the whole
Never mind the ticket price hike for us peasants , Im just over the moon golden balls is happy with his 100 odd plus wage packet can’t have him miserable can we?
LOL, phew, thanks claret and hugh, forgot about the match fixing and potential life time ban, but he is happy and cant wait for the season to start!!! what would we do without you!
