A huge vote of thanks to the skipper

We’ve all criticised most players wearing the claret and blue at some point or other – sadly it’s what we do in a game of instant and often over reaction.

I’ve had my moments with the captain but the reality is that in a game where those immediate judgements are made Mark Noble defies such stereotypical thinking.

And it would be wrong to let the 15th anniversary of his professional debut to pass without saying a big thank you to a man who has been dedicated to this club since childhood.

In days such as this when mercenaries’ kiss the badge and take the money, loyalty of such as Nobes’ as a one club man is virtually beyond words.

And his influence towards the end of last season, and again yesterday, is a tribute in itself to a bloke who at 32 continues to talk about having many more years in front of him.

Mark Noble will be around this club for years to come in some capacity or other and the simple truth is we all owe him.

He may not have the panache of many but his influence and leadership will never be forgotten by those of us who have seen him in his prime.

Here’s how he sums up his own time at the club with typical modesty: “In all honesty, I didn’t think I’d be playing 15 years on when I made my debut, especially at this level.

“I have worked hard, kept myself in the best condition possible and I’m still going strong and hopefully I’ve got many more years to come!”

Thanks skipper and COYI

  1. It saddens me on another fan websites, four letters, the non stop debate how bad Our Captain is, he is too slow is the constant cry, I watched Bobby Moore, he was never fast, it what you do with the ball and your temperament. You can’t put a price on the Respect players have for him on and off the pitch. Yes there will come an end to his career, one he should be proud of, but I will be disappointed if he is not used at the club with younger players, what an inspiration he will be, lets get out Title back The Academy with Noble!.

  2. Love him a fantastic captain and leader. Should have played more for England too

  3. Wonder where bubbles is…

  4. Fantastic player….when he’s not in the team you really do notice..he has a great understanding of the game and unbelievable passion. Might not be the quickest but has great positioning.

  5. A true West Ham legend – loyal & combative to the end. There may be deficiences in his game, occasionally, but he always gives his all for the team & never lets us down. Long may he continue at West Ham.

  6. A few of our supporters drip on about his legs have gone, he’s too slow etc.
I’m old enough and privileged to have seen Bobby Moore, Ken Brown and John Bond play. None of them were fast but all could read the game and be I n the right place at the right time and feed the forwards with accurately placed passes. Mark Noble follows in their footsteps. A local boy who loves the club, proud to put on the Claret &Blue and gives 100%. 15 years of total dedication to West Ham, what more can you ask?
