I did have to read this report a couple of times to make sure I had the identity of this ‘West Ham Star” who has now had a €50 million price tag slapped on him by the club. West Ham obviously believe because they have a history of overpaying for talent, other clubs will follow suit.

Spanish site fichajes are normally pretty accurate, with their finger on the pulse of La Liga football and it is from their report today that comes the news: “Sources close to the club [West Ham] point out that the minimum price they would demand to negotiate their transfer would be 50 million euros, a figure that reflects their growing value in the market.”

And the identity of this player, described thus :”At 28 years old, he combines experience and maturity, which makes him a benchmark in defense and a leader in the locker room.”?

The ‘massively appreciating asset that is Nayef Aguerd!

Nayef Aguerd, who West Ham couldn’t give away last year, has rebuilt his career at Real Sociedad to the point that he’s rumoured to be attracting interest from Real Madrid, although it should be said our London Stadium insider advised that West Ham have denied any contact with the former Spanish champions..

It’s clear that his loan has been a huge success but €50 million? That’s forty two million squids. Almost ‘Jhon Duran’ money.

As part of a ‘start high and negotiate down’ strategy it should at least mean West Ham break even on a player who I think cost £35 million. And in real terms, after depreciation in his accounting/’book’ value over two years, they’d probably show a profit on the Moroccan. Which would be a remarkable achievement compared with the losses the club normally makes on player sales!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

I hope Kudus goes with them. A disruptive influence who thinks he runs the show.

SHOW ME THE MONEY . Westham will be doing well if they get anywhere near that valuation .

At least we can cover the exorbitant costs of Max Killman. As for poor Todibo playing with the Reserves, he will probably swan off to Seria A and Italy in January. I’m sure both he and Fulkrugg are angling for it.
