West Ham currently hold a positive net transfer revenue of €1.8 million this summer, having spent €62 million on Jean-Clair Todibo and El Hadji Malick Diouf, while generating €63.8 million from the sale of Mohammed Kudus. Additional player departures are expected before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

A senior club spokesperson revealed to C&H that West Ham recorded a £100 million loss last season, with projected deficits of £60–£80 million this season depending on further transfer activity—particularly if the club secures both a goalkeeper and a midfielder. They added “FFP is a real problem for us.”

Given these financial constraints, it’s clear why the club is nearing a deal for Brazilian goalkeeper John Victor, who offers a budget-friendly option. However, insiders confirm that Mads Hermansen, the Danish U21 international, remains the recruitment team’s top target—though negotiations previously stalled due to a significant gap in valuation between the two clubs.

C&H and several football finance analysts have published multiple pieces on Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), with some suggesting West Ham may be erring on the side of caution in their forecasts. Still, the club is acutely aware of the risks: breaches of PSR can lead to serious penalties, as seen with Everton and Nottingham Forest, who suffered points deductions in recent seasons.

I have been a season ticket holder since the late eighties, so experienced the highs and lows of being a West Ham supporter. I previously wrote for OLAS and have contributed to a number of football publications in the past.

I’m just sick of the way the club is run! We bring in a progressive manager and staff and then tie his hands by not giving him a sensible budget. We dodged relegation last season and haven’t invested in improving the squad. All the promoted sides have invested wisely and we are in grave danger of becoming a championship club. The fans might decide to bouycott the stadium and protest against the management if things don’t immediately improve. If Sullivan backs down and gives potter funds we can sign Harvey Elliot and hermadsen and a striker he would be applauded not hated! SULLIVAN just do the right thing for once and give the manager a chance to succeed!!!

    £92m in the black

  • Jonsauze says:

The blame is purely on Sullivan, he scrimps and saves, however he listened to Steidten and did not sign loppy, we wouldn’t need to spend to release him from contract.
If he didn’t sign Ings against Moyes wishes, we wouldn’t have wasted 100K plus a week on wages.
Places in the table are worth a couple of Million, if he spent an extra £10 million on Duran would we have finished higher up the table, Quite possibly. so an extra bit of money spent can also lead to increased revenue.
The sooner He goes the sooner we can get moving forward. there were 3 teams that struggled last season and unsurprisingly they are the three clubs with the most board level interference. Sullivan, Levy & Radcliffe.

Spent a fortune on Pellegrini and Lopetegui and their rubbish signings that’s the problem.

  • Martin61 says:

Sullivan and Brady are the constant in the leadership, management and decision making of our club. They are operating outside of their capabilities and until replaced we will see the same up and down going around in circles we always see.

So in other words if we didn’t sell kudus we couldn’t have bought anyone. Ridiculous in the last 3 years we have received over 200 million in transfer fees and spent around 300 million so how they could be that much trouble is a nonsensical excuse.

Club in a difficult position because of their horrendous mismanagement… Again!

  • Wayward says:

The issue is, that the club continually makes the same mistakes with recruitment, in fact runs it like a three ring circus, then whines about it through bits of PR. The definition of stupidity is to do the same thing over and over again, yet expect a different result. West Ham are farcical and for a lot of lifers like me, all hope is gone.

  • Joe says:

Given that the experts on PSR and football finances have suggested multiple times that West Ham should NOT have an issue with PSR.

Its hard not to be skeptical of the club leaking this information. Sullivan should remember were not Daily Sport reader’s who might by this line of bs from the club.

Given the fact we removed a number of high earners off the book this should have given the club some wriggle room. Given that we owe a Women’s Super League team and could have used that loophole to create PSR space. And if we are having issues with PSR why hasn’t lady brady overseen a great increase in commercial revenue that would have assisted greatly on this PSR issue.

  • Andy says:

Matt please don’t listen to the propaganda [edited]. All the experts are saying we are nowhere near the PSR .,

  • Timbo says:

Hard to know the truth as we don’t see all the detail. But it is clear that we are in a right mess despite £105m profit from the Declan Rice sale, 3 years of European football, a great deal on a new stadium and one of the largest attendances in the country. And it seems that those at the helm during all that do not wish to put their hands in their own pockets so we can invest in a few young players and hopefully start to turn thing around.

  • Irons1960 says:

Wonder where the £150m that you told us we had available to spend in this window went then? Strange.

  • Tom says:

What happen too the board could put 90 million of their own money instead of revenue generated by West Ham FC towards transfers that was reported on this site a couple of weeks ago.
