Following Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal for an eyewatering £105m and Manuel Lanzini’s departure on a freebie, we desperately need to beef up our midfield. And while new boy Edison Álvarez’s acquisition is a step in the right direction, the way we crumbled against Bayer Leverkusen is cause for concern. It is more than feasible to suggest that our Supremo’s future depends on a solid start to the season.
We have six tricky games coming up, and we do not want a repeat of our sluggish start of last season.
Notwithstanding all the chatter about the Moyes and Steidten so-called ”standoff”, there does seem to be more movement on transfer activity. Possible new striker options like Chelsea’s Armando Broja, Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke are all names in the mix. And with the likely exit of Aaron Cresswell, the search for a left-winger and a left-back goes on. Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen and Adrien Truffert of Rennes are both on the Moyes’s wish list
Nevertheless, we only have four more days until we visit Bournemouth and we do not seem much further forward.
