A tale of two starts – look at these tables

2014Remember 12 months ago?

Remember that amazing ‘diamond shaped’ when the new way of playing was being heralded as the start of a new West Ham era?

We were briefly in fourth place on Christmas Day by which time we had played we had played 19 games, won nine,  drawn four and lost four to give us 31 points with a zero goal difference. We had beaten Liverpool at home 3-1 in September and Man City 2-1 at home in October.

This season we sit in third place after six games but compare that to where we were after six games last season.

In fact we were 13th with seven points after winning two, drawing one and losing three games under s manager who knew his players inside out, backwards and sideways!.

This season, the Hammers have won four and lost two scoring 12 points. We are joint leading scorers but we have conceded two less goals giving us a positive goal difference of six.

At this rate where could we be by Christmas day this year?

    Lets forget the pass, we served our sentence we are out on good behaviour and have a new set up,
    We know the problems of the past,
    I for one now want to move on and enjoy my football win or loose,7 months of campaigning to remove the Hippo has left me wanting more from our club and Slav and gang are rewarding us with that,
    Can’t wait to go to Slav,s pub full of Ladies why he is parking the bus,

    Can we really compare last season to this..? A lot of new players, managment team & tactics since then. Too early to judge maybe..?
    Most pundits gave us no chance this season & had us down as relegation favorites, how many of them still have the same views?

    Yes. But the difference here is that we now have a manager who will look at the team playing this way – and understand it.

    The previous manager preferred to select John Collins as soon as possible, and made the person who gave away the ball even more often than Collins, club captain.

    By Christmas, we were totally wrecked.
