Having been linked to the Manchester United right back for some months, West Ham have according to a number of reports pulled the plug on signing the 26 year old, as the player has demanded a £7m pay out from his parent club which he would have commanded in a years time when his contact had expired.

Sadly, with the Red Devils holding firm on an £18m transfer fee and the player happy to run down his contract in twelve months time. His agent, Will Salthouse has tried to work a compromise, but the player is also requesting a rise on his current salary of £90k a week. The collapse of this transfer suggests the Moroccan international Noussair Mazroui will remain with Bayern Munich, and not join Man Utd having turned down a move to West Ham last month.

With the clock ticking West Ham have moved onto other options, which has been further enhanced by Besiktas interest in Vladimir Coufal, a player who similarly has 12 months left on his contract.

Newcastle sources have confirmed that West Ham have registered an interest in Kieran Trippier, one year older than Coufal and available at a modest transfer fee, but with little sell on value.

Trippier is wanted by West Ham as a Wan Bissaka Alternitive

Julen Lopetegui has already added three players over the age of 30, and with the squad being the oldest in the Premiership must surely be looking at younger targets.

As mentioned in a previous article there are a number of younger players that are available, including Netherlands u-21 Milan Van-Ejwik who was a stand out performer for Coventry City last season and at 23 offers much more potential. PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord are monitoring the players situation with a £8m price tag being mooted.

Arnau Martinez is another option, the 6ft Spanish Under 21 international is well known to Lopetegui and is in the last year of his contract at Girona FC. At 21 years old and a release clause of £17m, the club have approached his representatives. He played 21 games last season in the La Liga, and offers versatility as can operate at both right-back and centre-back.

One would hope that the Hammers can move on from Wan-Bissaka and find a longer term solution. Though faced with a player who can leave on a free transfer in a years time, Man Utd will be be keen to a recoup a fee now.

As we have already seen in this transfer window – things can change quite quickly, yet Lopetegui has made it clear that he wants his new team in place by August 17th when West Ham face Aston Villa at the London stadium.

Trippier 4 years back maybe but not for me now getting to old and suffering injuries….i like the fact that Jlo is not insisting on any one RB just get him anyone from the list i bet Tim loves working alongside a more open manager when he brings a name to light where as old miserly Moyes would of just said no….this is how people need to work together.

Trippier to old and an injury liability.
Why is Howe pushing to off load him?
Unless 2 right backs are going to be signed Martinez (21) is better option.
Stick with new policy of younger players.
Also likely to give a better return.

Perhaps we should go back in for Mazroui and let Steidten work his magic. Man Utd won’t sign him if they can’t offload Bissaka.

Still think Joe Gomez should be top of our RB list, even though he’s not officially a RB. I’ve always thought he’s been underrated and under valued by some at Anfield. Signing him would tick so many boxes for us.

He’s played almost as many games for Liverpool at RB as he has at CB and tbf is just as good in either position. He might be a little more than £18M but imo his versatility justifies the price tag.

If we somehow could secure the signing of Martinez I think it would almost be the perfect transfer window. Maybe Duran on loan or am I being greedy? 😉

Really disappointing if we have now walked away from a deal for Wan Bissaka. He’s one player I’d love us to sign. But IF these reports of ManU constantly moving the goalposts are true, then it’s understandable why we have stopped negotiating.
A week left before the season starts and so we need to get this sorted. I don’t see us being interested in Trippier. Good player, but age not on his side. So where does that leave us? Walker Peters? Arnau Martinez? Hopefully we’ll know soon
