Aaron Wan-Bissaka Update

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has resolved issues with Manchester United over his contract for compensation regarding his departure sources close to the club have confirmed early this morning.

He is thought to have compromised on a £5.6m golden goodbye bonus after initially asking for £7m.

This clears the way for a re-scheduled West Ham medical on Monday morning and from there player and club to club contracts can be signed.

The Hammers have already agreed a £15m transfer fee with up to £3m in add-ons the player agreed personal terms meaning a drop in his £100,000 per week wages at the Manchester based Premier League club.

Manchester United purchased Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £50m in 2019 on a five-year contract meaning they are all but depreciated the defender as an asset in financial accounts.

With less than £5m remaining on the books Manchester United will register a £10m profit for PSR purposes when the deal is complete.

West Ham’s eighth summer signing and official announcement might not be possible today with Tuesday being the more likely as it stands.

<Update by Martin> Sources have confirmed that Aaron Wan Bissaka has arrived at West Ham United this Monday morning for his medical and media work. The finishing line is in sight for this saga: Let’s hope he is worth it!

Sean, you have published this article with a futuristic time stamp. It is not yet 11am there and you are cheating by at least half hour. What are you up to?

Where have we heard this news before ? This must be the most protracted transfer ever !

  • kcockayne says:

Apart from Duran, that is !

  • Len Scannell says:

Let’s be positive about the time taken. There is no way we would have ever made this or the other signings under the old management regime…

  • muffy says:

The PL squad limit is 25 and with Wan-Bissaka coming in this makes it 26 as Zouma is still officially shown as part of the squad on the West Ham site https://www.whufc.com/players/713. So how are they going to get around that one if Zouma does not go? Also, they are talking about getting more players and with possible Ings and Irving going but that is going to reduce out home grown players down to 7 so unless they bring in another home grown transfer they will break that rule as Academy players do not count.

  • Ellis says:

Just forget him he not in London yet we had all this last time because the player wañted more money

Update on home grown above. I meant to mention that Ward-Prowse was mentioned as going, so don’t think he will as then West Ham don’t reduce home grown below 8.With just possibly Irving and Ings going will still leave 8 if we get Wan-Bissaka as he too is home grown.

  • michael cash says:

Ings will be going nowhere as he is on £125,000 per week

I’ve never seen such a long transfer, but Man United have always been difficult for anyone to do deals with. I’m not going to celebrate until the deal’s done.

  • UKBeardo says:

I’m still not 100% clear on how Man U have spun a £50m purchase 4/5 years ago and £15m sale today into a positive? surely they have lost £35m on the player? I understand that like a car there is depreciation and he would have got older blah blah blah, but they have been paying his wages for that time too Surely the business model would look to make a real profit on the sale… anyway let them think what they want if we get him for £15m it sorts out the RHS of defence…COYI

    • Jeff Cardy says:

I wouldn’t worry about United losing any money. They’ll soon make that again as they are a business and don’t usually run at a loss.

    • Stephen united says:

As a man utd fan his contract was up and we trigger a 1 year extension. With this trigger we cannot do it to sell for more money and since the contract was up we only had his wages to pay hence why he got a 5m handshake and we get 10 on the books. Position awareness ****e but tackles are 100%… Now a greedy cojor

  • Pongo says:

Ings, zouma, aguerd, and mavropanos all need to go, sign o riley from celic and another CD us another home grown or include earthy in the 25 he deserves his chance. Then get our best team out against villa, areola, palmieri, todibo, kilman, wan bissaka, summerville, kudus, paqueta, bowen, Rodriguez and fulkrieg and get out and thump villa 4 nil, i predict kudus scores a screamer, bowen, pQueta and fulkrieg get the goals. Get behind the team and make loads of noise then villa won’t know what’s hit them, there pre season has been atrocious. 👍👍👍👍

This paragraph is so loaded. If he was expecting to get £7m, that would have been the remainder of his contract.

If your employer wants you out, without constructive dismissal, the procedure is called a compromise agreement, and becomes a negotiation. This is very similar. He isn’t being greedy, he simply wants the remainder of the contract he signed. It isn’t a ‘golden goodbye,’ it is just what he is owed.

I think that fan sites ought to be careful about this sort of thing. We are signing a great player, someone who was bought by one of the biggest clubs in the world for an astronomical fee. He has played under that pressure, and has proved himself to be a great pro. What he doesn’t need is a reputation as someone who is greedy at his new club. He has been through protracted negotiations when changing clubs, just to get what is owed to him. There is crazy amounts of money in the game and that isn’t his fault.

Don’t blame the player, blame the game.

Hope we get this one over the line … he will be a great asset can’t wait for the start of the season
