West Ham boss David Moyes should be looking in other directions than Tammy Abraham for his much needed striker this summer.
ClaretandHugh’s top blogger and heroic former striker Leroy Rosenior doesn’t believe he’s the right front man for the Irons.
And he admits he’d be very surprised if David Moyes would be interested in paying up to £30 million or more for the Chelsea front man.
Speaking exclusively to Candh Leroy said: “He really doesn’t have Mickey Antonio’s qualities and this is a striker who has learned the role over the last few months or so.
“Tammy doesn’t link play and bring in other players – I don’t see him as the answer up front and I don’t actually believe he is the energy and athletic striker to whom the manager is usually attracted.”
Lee’s comments come after widespread speculation emerged in numerous media outlets that Aston Villa were ready to move in for the Chelsea striker.
Said Leroy: “I don’t think he’s the right one for us.”
Looks like Villa most likely to get him anyway as £40m seems nothing too them. Hopefully we can get a deal on Armstrong he isn’t as tall as Antonio but has the pace & worker rate. Think £15m gets him, I wouldn’t be against a punt on Clarke-Harris at Peterborough who is 26 bettered Toney’s record at Posh is 6′ strong leads line well very good finisher. Edouard links again he has the talent but worth about attitude, I actually think Morelos would suit us better tbh… But I’d love to go in for Shick he would cost £40m too but think with Souček & Coufal he settles right in & isn’t Antonio fast but.mobile & plays similar style & system with club & Country. Has great feet too. Not Arnie please! Two would be great imo Armstrong and another bc he would give us pace on left & ability to go two up top. Sure Lingard is still first but every other day he is staying at Man U then not, now supposed new deal more money, any truth to that if you know? If not I think Sancho signing would push him to move but if signs deal then we’ll be priced out asking a lot with a year left already.
Well said Leroy, I have to admit that I think your right in your assessment of Tammy and whether he is the right fit for us. I like our style of play under Moyes and Moyes has already made it clear how much he thinks Abraham is worth (mid £20M at the most). That is his line in the sand and with him having full control of our transfer budget… there is no way that he would be prepared to blow a good proportion of it on Abraham.
Anyway, I doubt that Moyes will be getting involved in any player auctions in the very near future.

Looks right to me, Leroy. I think Sebastian Haller would be an upgrade on Abrahams. We know what happens there. Much better to get in a player to suit Wee Davey’s plans than buying someone because they are expensive and might play well. Great to read your words again, Leroy. Thanks Hugh.
Tammy Abraham is good in my opinion. But yes, he doesn’t have the stamina as such that’s all.
Agreed hes not for us! its frustrating that we can’t compete financially with the likes villa, leicester city, wolves , Everton.
It’s because all those clubs you mentioned have foreign owners who for them £30M is pocket change.
Spot on Leroy, I just hope Moyes reads this article as he will be making a huge mistake signing him.
