Abraham wages could cause big problem

Tammy Abraham – currently understood to be  on £140k a week at Chelsea – would cost the Hammers around £62 million over a four year contract  unless the Stamford B|ridge club lower their asking fee and the player a pay cut.

The 23 year old remains the most fancied of the candidates to arrive as a striker but it looks very unlikely unless the both events take place.

However, that will be very unlikely even in a covid market and with David Moyes having claimed there’s no chance of a deal aty £40 million other targets will seemingly have to emerge.

The Irons reportedly want to make Declan Rice top earner at around £150 k a week  but with likes of Tomas Soucek on less than £100 k there could be some dressing room unrest if a deal is done on the sort of terms that may be required to bring Abraham in.

Andriy Yarmolenko is currently top earner at the London Stadium on £115k a week.

  1. Hopefully we swerve this – pay top money and wages for a player who is not prolific and can’t get in his clubs side who have set these high wages. Have we learned nothing? Don’t let our desperation lead us again please.

  2. Come on let’s get real hear why would the chuckle brothers pay 140 grand when they’re getting rid of the high earners the most I see them paying is 60/80 grand a wk we will end up with loanees or freebies plus who would blame Declan leaving with no quality in the pipe line be the same as usual dont go to bed yet marquee signing probably sell Declan in the last hr of the transfer window to Chelsea same excuses we tried to get our targets

  3. How do we actually know he’s on 140 k a week , I certainly wouldn’t discuss my salary so why should he unless we are actually going to try and sign him . Do we even know if they still want £40 million . There are various articles doing the rounds over the past few weeks about how much he would cost . Still it’s silly season but I don’t see any new signings of any sort at the moment.

  4. Ridiculous. Find another option.

  5. Really don’t need him even at a quarter of asking price!
    COYI

  6. Well hidson odoi is on 120k and tammy was ****ed off that he was paid no where near him.

    So doubt that very much

Just say the board dont want to buy him and move on.

    Stop with the excuses

  7. Would rather have Ings any day and fraction of the cost

  8. No wonder he’s not busting a gut to get in the first team on a more regular basis! If he’s on £140k per week, why bother busting a gut!! The fact that clubs, like Chelsea and Man City, can afford to pay squad players that kind of money is both obscene and distortionary. Really difficult for other teams to compete. I quite liked the idea of a hungry Tammy Abrahams playing for us, but not now that I’ve seen these numbers.

  9. I thought we were going for young hungry players ? Abraham is young but I can’t see him in the hungry category. If we pay him less than he’s on will he play better? Not sure…

  10. Jumping from player yo player with no real chance of getting them because its always to much money no matter what price they are ,,we knew this about Abraham 3 months ago,and moyes said then to much money…so another few months have gone by and we are baick to Abraham again and talking about how to expensive he is ,AGAIN!!!wich I agree he is , … but it’s laughable as we have been here 3,/4 times already,,same with Braithwaite and about another 7/8 players….just going round and round in circles with the same answers …speculation from papers all over Europe but nothing concrete from our so called sources in England…..what an absolute circus it is again……
